And how well did it perform? Likely was stuttery and highly compressed, tried continuity camera in Ventura and the video is sharp and buttery smooth like it’s 60fps.

I always find it funny when people say “it’s been on Android”, well I hope so, manufacturers releases thousands of different Android phone models each year versus 4 from Apple, someone’s bound to put something on their phone that Android can claim is first. It’s not really a flex when it’s hastily done and doesn’t work too well or has issues.

@Justin_tech can you give some examples please. I’m an older person & am not keen on mounting my new IPhone 14 Pro Max on my laptop display……makes me very nervous. I would greatly appreciate some suggestions. Cheers 😊

Why not make MacBook webcam better? Integrate the same iPhone cameras into MacBooks.

    • Caeden Goering

      October 28, 2022 at 11:19 am

Completely agree. Everyone is like “it’s the best camera – so let’s just use it instead”. I get this as a feature for Macs that already have bad cameras – but this is a sign that you need to upgrade those cameras.

    • Justin_tech

      October 28, 2022 at 2:14 pm

The screen is so thin. I don’t think it can get better than an iPhone…but I could be wrong.

    • Caeden Goering

      October 28, 2022 at 2:59 pm

@Justin_tech you’re probably right. I think the full cameras on the back of the phone are not able to be put into a display that size (hence the camera bumps). But I do feel that they could minimally make the selfie can much better. I know that my iPhone 8 was super thin and still had a better selfie can than my 2021 MacBook Pro does. That was a 2018 phone I believe? Heck – even the 7 and 6s were thin with nice selfie cameras (and ones that were much better than Macs then – and arguably better than the Macs now). I think continuity camera will still outshine the selfie cam given how awesome those cameras are. I’m just frustrated that a $25 webcam off of Amazon looks better than my built in webcam. It’s pretty frustrating on a Mac that is otherwise top-of-the-line. Minimally – the MacBook selfie camera should look as good as the iPhone’s.

  31. Donnie Ledesma

    October 28, 2022 at 11:07 am

I updated my M1 mac pro to Ventura and I use iPhone x Max but somehow I can’t connect both them and use the continuity camera. I tried every trick and it only works when I turn off and on either device and then connect but say if I want to use again after I disconnect I can’t. What could be the problem?

    • Justin_tech

      October 28, 2022 at 2:12 pm

I had this issue too, here’s the fix. After you connect the iPhone and then want to use the phone again be sure to tap “Pause” and not “Disconnect” on the phone. This will allow you to go back after. Currently, have no idea how to get it connected again without a restart haha, so don’t disconnect.

    • Mohamed Abdullahi

      October 28, 2022 at 2:15 pm

@Justin_tech Thank you, I will try this.

    • Mohamed Abdullahi

I tried and it seems this is not working too for me 🙁

  34. Justin_tech

    October 28, 2022 at 2:16 pm

IMPORTANT TIP if you’re having issues reconnecting an iPhone to the Mac! After you connect the iPhone and want to use the phone again tap “Pause” and not “Disconnect” on the iPhone. This will allow you to go back to using it as a camera. If you click disconnect, you’ll need to restart the Mac in order to reconnect…Hopefully Apple resolves this soon.

Can cnet talk about some of the iphone 14 pro camera issue? Someone I know upgraded to iOS 16.1 but their when doing video call with Whatsapp still have focusing issue. Maybe we should bring this issue up, and investigate how widespread it is, so Apple can pay attention and fix it.
