Shame you can’t send later with RCS.

It’s because it uses the iCould service. That’s why it can still send if your phone dies or if you turn it off when the message should be sent. It sends the message (your text) and the send-time to some iCloud server and then it is up to iCloud, when to send the message. So you could say that it is iCloud that sends your message when you use the new “Send Later” feature in iMessage.

Shouldn’t it be enabled by default?

From my Galaxy I noticed RCS pop on at least one person’s iPhone chat. Thus isn’t a tech person who would go looking to turn that on, so maybe it is by default.

Mine was already turned on by default, on my iPhone 15 Pro Max on AT&T. I can’t speak for anyone else.

    Apparently it doesn’t come on a 13, I have a 13 pro max and I can’t find it.

I have a 15 Pro Max and I don’t have that option under “Text Messaging” either! Maybe this is cell-provider dependent?

      @@MosheFeder That could be it.

It’s on my 13 enabled by default

Are you guys on iOS 18? I had to manually start the update

    • @Jumbo_storm

It’s your cell provider that you need to talk to. They need to enable it on their end now if they haven’t already. I don’t have it either and that’s because my cell provider hasn’t gotten around to enabling it yet.

I don’t have it either, I have an iPhone 14 Pro. Just switched my carrier to Google Fi in anticipation of a switch back to a Google Pixel. Was thinking maybe it’s not an option for iPhones on Google Fi?

      September 23, 2024 at 2:10 pm

Yeah I don’t know either. I have an iPhone 13 Pro with Google Fi and it’s not an option for me in iOS18. I use Google messenger on my Samsung Z Flip 4 so idk I’m gonna check if I can use Google messenger on iPhone cause that has RCS enabled on the Samsung by default.

You should make a video on how to enable it on Androids. Most Androids don’t have it enabled.
