It’s worse than using the screen, so it’s pointless.

Apple should remove it in the next iphone

I mean the button is as pointless as the last 6 or 7 iterations of the phone 😂

Have to agree… it’s not great.

“Good for nothing”😂 you like roasting that new button…ima keep my iPhone 13 as long as i can and hopefully maybe the IPhone 18 will do away with it or make it better…too soon for them to make dramatic changes to the IPhone 17 to want to make me adopt

Here is my wishlist for the next iPhone:
    • Move power button back to top of phone and make it a fingerprint reader
    • Remove the camera control button and put it in place of the current action button
    • Make above button two-step like on a real camera – forget about the slide functionality
    • Make the entire back flat so it lays flat without any camera bump (don’t worry, it’s okay that the new phone is not 0.2mm thin – they are too thin as it is)
    • Make the back a high end engineering plastic instead of glass, and put screws in the back to make the entire phone super-easy to repair without specialized tools (Apple can even make their own ‘magic’ plastic that is somehow different just to sound cool)
    • Micro SD card slot (I know…but this is MY wish list)
    • A single rear camera with a very good sensor – we don’t need more cameras!
    • No dynamic island, no hole punch – use an under-display camera like other phones
    • Just a thought, but maybe consider some form of digital crown but in dial format – I think that would work really well in place of the new camera control button especially if it had haptic feedback
    • Make the Pro models in more colors like the lower end models
    • Forget about folding displays
    • Ability to hook up to external monitor, keyboard and mouse to make it a desktop like some other phone brands
    • Apple Pencil support, and on that note, make a pocket Apple Pencil – just don’t call it a stylus cuz Steve J.
    • Jesus make a pink iPhone already…(you’re welcome BC)
    • Make excellent cases – use vegan leather or something that is at least pleasing to hold if you think real cow leather is so bad for the environment (I question this but whatever)

      October 5, 2024 at 3:39 pm

Exactly cow leather is just gunna go to waste if we don’t use it they kill enough cows what are we supposed to do with all the leather throw it out?

😂 I kept it on to launch the camera but turned off all the adjustment stuff through accessibility I think. The scrolling crap is garbage.

  13. @SmudgyRules

    October 5, 2024 at 9:25 pm

You poked the bear. lol. But yeah it’s pointless. Or at least, it’s more fiddly than the controls which are already available. At the very least, Apple needs to clean up how it works. A dedicated camera “control” that launches, zooms and actions the shutter? Fine. Going through five layers of settings using it? Not fun.

    October 5, 2024 at 9:28 pm

Apple used to say they won’t add something new unless it adds real value and is different. Well clearly they changed their mind. I hope they get rid of this button in the next iPhone. Or at least, make it a second Quick Launch button so you can give it purpose aside from being an awkwardly placed shutter button. I mean control.

Can we get another button that is called “Send Control” you press it and it sends mesages, emails, dms. You swipe up and down to send pre sent messages, half click to choose emojis.

Speaking of good for nothing, this video failed to mention how to change the button from zooming to other functions, which is why I clicked here. Double soft tap in the camera app and that should let you select. Cackling hen.

That ending kind of channelled YouTuber Scotty Kilmer’s laughter of sarcasm sans an inset picture of a donkey heehawing. 😅
