This is an Ad.

A lot of videos on YouTube are ads nowadays. The Insider/Wired “expert talks about movies” or “expert talks about things in five different levels” or “autocomplete interviews” are just ads for whatever that person is selling. It’s disheartening to realize that this is the current (and future) landscape of a lot of YouTube.

this is literally nothing. in my eyes it’s an ad.
I do like these videos presented like this tho rather than a recording from a live event. this particular is dumb tho. doesn’t even give a link to the “class”

Hi there– just this week, YouTube has introduced some new functionality (in beta format) for content creators like TED to offer courses for sale. This video is part of a longer course–but we hear you about wanting more context for what you’re looking at. Good feedback which we will share with YouTube (which manages the presentation of the course content). If you’d like to learn more about the course, you can find additional info and purchase at . We hope you’ll give it a try.

Thanks for taking the feedback professionally.
I love Ted, this just felt poorly presented/rolled out and I also feel for the millions of people in our country and around the world who will feel like they’re going to miss out on something they can’t afford to purchase.
Ted has become known on YouTube for its inspirational and educational free content.
It reminds me a bit of the PBS fundraising drives but this sounds more like a paid course. This being an unexpected format for Ted’s usual content is bound to be received oddly by the average Ted watcher, especially when it’s not clearly explained upfront.
The presenter sounds good it’s just $35 will be a barrier to many. (If that’s what it cost, somebody else posted that.)
I do appreciate the response and welcoming feedback.

Now it just pushed sjw agenda and runs ads on their main channel.

@TED The title needs to indicate that this is an ad related to this new function so that it does not simply get views for being a TED talk and pushing it up by the algorithm. Also, the original intention of TED talks was not to sell courses or premium video and if that is the direction you are going to take your content, I and many other will unsubscribe from your channel and stop watching your videos.
If you want to pursue paid content and use TED talks to push them, make a new channel that does it and mention your new channel and paid content at the end of the videos as a brief mention. These stealth commercials are insulting to the high intelligence audience that is attracted to TED talks. Be upfront and honest instead.

Life is a journey not a destination… in my youth I found out I loved animals but especially horses & horse-riding (dressage). In my 30s I discovered I loved Irish dancing and the importance of a healthy environment (got a degree in environmental management)… and dragons. In my 40s I discovered I love belly dancing, general crafting… and fantasy movies. In my 50s I discovered I love science & technology, paper crafting in particular… and superhero movies.
A person will not discover everything in their 20s and stay like that for the rest of your life. It’s about trying new things, taking opportunities to discover new things… but life will also change & mould you as you get older, but be careful about the person you become as life’s challenges come your way. How you develop as a person is as much as choice as it is by what life presents to you.

@TED Thanks for actually reading and replying comments, I had no idea about this new courses section, I admit.
I saw the video and felt like I was watching an ad for a 3rd party course.
It would feel much more transparent to include a bit more of content and explaining in the video and hey, if it means you guys can make enough money to keep creating the content I love then I would even consider checking out a course.
