“Five more years”? Where in the world do you have to be 19 to skydive?

In South Africa the minimum skydiving age (with parental consent) is 16, I’d imagine it’s the same in the US, no?

Not necessarily. The tunnel in NC started a program for a membership program $500/month which gave you either the potential for 5 minutes a day or 30 minutes per week. So you share your time with someone else and it goes to potentially hours per week. Other places have adopted this. Also most if not all the kids in this sport have parents in the industry. So I’m guessing that her time is greatly reduced or free because of sponsorships.

Why is this comment section so negative?!!
Yeah this costs a lot of money and most people (me included) probably won’t ever do it (except if it gets cheaper) but I don’t get the bitterness in the comments…
This girl does a lot of training and exercise in and outside of a wind tunnel to get better and I can’t imagine that all that many people would be able to show that dedication
So I think she should be commended for that even though her parents have more money than most of us…

I am disabled but would love to skydive but obviously that is not possible because of the parachute. Is being in a wind tunnel painful. Does the wind hurt being pushed upon your body cause there is so much I can not do but this seems almost possible depending on what the effect of the wind feels like on the body

Wow, it’s so encouraging to see a young, wealthy person whose parents can afford all those countless hours in the sky diving zone, taking it to the next level! Sorry, but this is way more wealth and opportunity than talent…

I’m actually pretty experienced at this sport and would really suggest for people to try this. You might think it’s hard but it’s really not. I’m only 11 and can do 10 backflip or front flips in a row and that is just a little bit of what I can do.

How does a child/parent even begin to consider this as an activity in which to gain prizes? With such a price barrier these prize-winners may be the best, but the pool of contenders is small.
No offense to this kid, but yay, prizes for rich kids.

it’s gonna be a looooong time before this becomes an olympic sport. inline speed Skating (which is one of my countries speciallity) is very popular worldwide, and has still not cut for the olympics. unfortunaly the sport is not practised by many first world countries even though there are thousands of competitors worldwide. we also joke around that they don’t want it to be an olympic game because a third world country holds the most gold medals since the 2000’s
