Seems like a good idea. I hope it works.

I think they could but I think they need to use older types of trees like redwoods / Sequoia since they grow taller and can last thousands of years

Fortunately it’s illegal in many countries to plant GM crops, I hope the US follows suit very soon. These people don’t have a clue, carbon credits & ESG scores will destroy human civilization, just for short sighted corporate profits.

Yes, worth a try, these folks sound passionate and caring and Mother Nature will benefit. How does the average person help, contribute and plant and be a part of this new approach? Please, let’s move beyond the research phase and give folks a chance to plant. Yes, I do plant trees around town and in parks but More is needed.

no.. i don’t think so.. but some Canadian guy was talking about putting rust into the oceans and completely reversing climate change that was done by humans and it would only take about 3yrs.. maybe find that guy and do a vid on him so more ppl can learn the science behind it

If Sea levels rise just blow up lots of the ground under the sea so the water goes down simple and use these trees to fix the heat increase problem.

There was research on fast growing poplars about 30 years ago. The biggest problem was that borers loved them. Also they needed a lot of water. Hope they fixed them.

Introducing new species, whether foreign or engineered, into a habitat generally has unforeseen, and often negative, consequences. And the adaptability of Kingdom Plantae should not be underestimated.

I’m not sure I like this idea. If you breed plants to be more aggressive, then release them into the wild, they become dangerously invasive extremely fast. They’re also likely to be more water dependant, to sustain that growth rate. So, they will overgrow areas, crowd out natural species, then suck up all the groundwater in the vicinity for themselves & starve out whatever survives.

This year number of people on earth will reach 8000000000. Only 11 years since we broke 7000000000. I can imagine that in few years this land will be doforested for food production.

    Great approach 👍🏾.
I worked in biotechnology for some time, with RUBISCO, phytohormons, embriogenesis, etc…Now I work mostly on landscape restoration and CO2 sequestration but:
-Fast growing plants like gmelina have proven in some parts of the world to not solve the problem,
-Even if more efficient, massively planting one species raises a biodiversity issue. How do you adress that ?
-Your expertise on carbon credit would be welcomed in areas of the world with great forests that thrive to access the international carbon market.

cute idea, but not very intelligent in the broader context. Considering I can store up to 5 times more carbon by pruning ash trees, this invention doesn’t really do much except making money.

Sorry, but seek answers in nature, not in labs…

you don’t need to modify plants; stop cutting down trees that already exist, then plant more.
