This is cruicial. I was in Xinjiang and Kashgar some 20 years ago, and opression was evident, but not on this level. I saw one of the then two camps after “getting lost” in the desert.

I don’t understand, are those illegal detention centres.
Or are they using that concept to perpetuate racism and segregation and possibly torture? I want to understand.
I get it’s about the importance of imbibing technology into journalism and the relevance of open-source data implementation and encouragement.
If they are masking the locations of their supposed detection centres, they must be doing something illegal which they want to keep away from public knowledge. There is more to this than meets the eye.

Yeah, let’s encourage members of the public to go to a foreign country and spy on their prisons! Are they going to compensate you when you get arrested for doing so?! And consider that those facilities look absolutely no different to the west’s high-security (or low security) prisons! Without understanding the specific circumstances of how individual detainees ended up there, there is no way to assume these anything other than legitimate prisons holding criminals. You could spin exactly the same narrative from a handful of daytrips in any western country; a few snaps of prisons, an image of a government building entrance with security guards and scanners, a few screenshots from Google Earth and few red dots on a satellite image… it really doesn’t amount to anything substantial. It seems her “data” has amounted to little more than rumour… rumour that doesn’t affest you but effectively distracts you from the fascism being mounted in your own country!

Interesting how the “she works for USA, this is anti-china etc.” comments all have the same amount of likes.
A usual sight when dealing with bot networks.
Also interesting how these comments barely write a comment with deeper context of the subject of the video, but rather a superficial “this is anti-china, she works for usa”. A very simple phrase that could be commented on multiple videos. Bots obviously don’t see the video, but rather comment on videos with certain key-words, key-phrases.

As a programmer, I’ve always loved going outside our systems and testing validity. I’ve uncovered a lot of errors in code and data, in assumptions of the world the software is serving, and even a few conspiracies, though they were pretty lame and not well thought out. My directors didn’t like me much, but since their bosses loved me there was nothing they could do except make things right. Get curious, ask questions and test everything and everyone.

I didn’t know Tedtalk can be bias as well. How do u know Russia is blocking the civilians road just by looking at satellite pics? ? It’s a war not charity mission right? Western countries has been purposely destabilize the xinjiang region. Tedtalk didn’t say back in 15 years ago these ppl will randomly drop bomb in civilians areas thats why they got controlled. I liked her mentioning the suppression of violent images. Sometimes those can be abused but when they are scraped and deleted, it simply hides a truth that could be a potential life saver in the future. I think truth is truth, even when it doesn’t fit our preconceived ideas. Manipulation even for the good can be, will be abused.

I realized that what our Chinese did in XinJiang is wrong, we shouldn’t treat minoritiesin this way, I think we should give them option to choose their way to live, just like the immigration in America did. When I told my thought to my mom, she asked a question, then how to solve the terrorist attack? Then xinjiang isn’t be this at the beginning, it has a good time, which Han ethics lives with Uighur Peacefully and happily, but everything changed after 1991, February 1st, the Terrorists attack firstly in xinjiang, caused 1 death and 13 injured, and the notorious event, which is terrorist attack at Kun Ming railway station in 2014, March 1st, caused 31 death and 141 injured, which basically is Chinese version 911, after that, the government treat the Uighurs toughly, even crazy, the hate raised between two ethics. From 1991 to 2016, the terrorist caused hundreds death and thousands injured, how to solve this question? I know we do in a wrong way, but how to solve the rift between the two races? Look through the Europe, the France basically is also another version re-educated camp but not so hard, look through U.S., they start several wars and destroyed a few countries to stop Terrorists, I really want to know how to solve it? We cannot just Critique, but also make solution.

There is only one race; the human race. Allow both sides to maintain there beliefs, and promote ways to work together- in public schools, news and enterainment media.
What the US has done in many nations is wrong, but you do not have to follow the same path. Show the world that you can be better. A dozen terrorist attacks does not justify imprisoning a million people or more and “reeducating” them. Nor does it justify the failed wars in the middle east and elsewhere. Show the world the way of both peace and logic. Our differences are what makes us stronger together.

I think the problem is that we compare countries that were really deep into terrorism with countries who have suffered massive terrorist attacks. Those countries in which the U.S. has taken action had terrorists gaining control over the country, not just performing attacks. Also, here in Europe, developed countries have completely banned death and torture penalty if I’m not mistaken. For instance, I live in Spain, and a few years ago there were lots of organized terrorists attacks. The terrorist organization was eventually dismantled, and the criminals were sent to prison. They’re all alive and some of them are out of jail. They don’t just dissappear. That’s the main problem with chinese re-education camps. They torture and murder people, but they can say that they just somewhat “dissappeared”. Please, don’t compare 1st world Europe’s prison system with re-education camps. Here the goal is to protect citizens, re-education camps are about controlling people through fear, like it or not that’s the main issue

Do you know why China’s government do this in Xinjiang? If you want to know, you may study Chinese history. There was a group called 匈奴(Huns) or some other groups. They want to attack every dynasty but they didn’t succeed. Now they become the Xinjiang people and the government don’t want them to rebel. So, the government do this.Although it has cons, it is the best solution.

I’m 54 and my wife and I are VERY worried about our future, gas and food prices rising daily. We have had our savings dwindle with the cost of living into the stratosphere, we are finding it impossible to replace it. We can get by, but cant seem to get ahead. My condolences to anyone retiring in this crisis, 30years nonstop just for a crooked system to take all you worked for.

@Sho investment should be an option, not a necessity. It should be an option for those who are willing to handle some risk in order to multiply their assets. It shouldn’t be a necessity if you wanted to just keep what you had.

First, you don’t know this thing is true or false, the video just has a few of pictures, why the buildings inside the picture can’t be a prison, you know there are not enough space to build prison in a city like Beijing or Shanghai, besides, build a prison in desert in Xinjiang can make the prisoners can’t escape easily. Second, how do you know that it is use to imprison Xinjiang people? Can’t be some murderer or other? Please improve this question so you can talk about this in a video. If not, you are misleading people to stand on other side of China.
