How Community-Led Research Drives Social Change | Monica Malta | TED
What’s the best way to develop and implement solutions to social problems? TED Fellow and human rights activist Monica Malta discusses why traditional, top-down policymaking often fails by excluding key voices and missing root causes. She shows why community-based participatory research — a method that empowers communities to co-create solutions to their own challenges —…

@@carasacity Why be happy when you can complain about whatever woke means? (It means different things to different people, and often it means hating diversity or female protagonists. Contradicting woke media lists are unfortunately hilarious)
Sounds like we’ve already solved the world’s problems: whine about buzzword “concerns” that will never have consensus, while sticking your head in the sand about the issues directly in front of you! My brain is fixed! 🙃

Monica Malta discusses community-based participatory research as a more effective approach to addressing social issues than traditional top-down methods. She shares her personal experience with domestic violence and HIV, and explains how involving affected communities in research leads to better solutions.

She is not a scientist. This is not science. She is a social worker. Maybe she is particularly god in this job, this might be true (although I’m not convinced), but please stop calling things science to put a halo on peoples heads. Doing that is a way to diminish academia and manipulating peoples perception of what belongs into academia and what in a school or a training center. You are misguiding the public and aren’t even aware that your speech is having the opposite effect on the world that you are allegedly trying to achieve.

Okay none of this is new and the fact that they found “new” issues outside of HIV is not “new” either.
What they discovered was cooperation works…duh.

How is this woman a scientist? She is very obviously not a scientist but a social worker. It is not wrong what she does. She does her job, and that is fine. But what is wrong is to act as if that would have to do something with science. It does not. Videos like this are meant to gain a fellowship by affection and emotions that are, by definition, irrational. By doing so, institutions like the TED talk or more general, the mainstream media is working on ending the age of enlightenment and instead starting a new epoch of totalitarianism or maybe a so-called Scientocracy.

Social work research is highly regarded within the social science community, as it adheres to the same rigorous standards followed by other scientific disciplines. While the video does not delve into community-centered data collection methodologies, it’s important to note that such approaches are essential in social work research, especially when focusing on ethics and the long-term impact on communities. Effective research in this field involves engaging the individuals whose lives are being studied and supported. Social work and science are not distinct or separate; when integrated thoughtfully, they provide a deeper, more comprehensive understanding of how to create meaningful and sustainable change.

Your first question just displays your “rational” and unbiased deductions from your outstanding scientific knowledge towards woman and scientific methods. It is impressive how you were 100% driven by logic and not the negative affection that the video about community participatory problem solving caused on you. Humanity is very thankful for your existence, and I would highlight women in this group since they are very supported by your views of how science should be cold and purely rational, like you are. I am so satisfied internet exists, giving the opportunity to talk to contemporary genius like you.

TED talks have never been explicitly scientific. Many are, but the important part is they inspire change in the world.
