Since Fitbit already brought out Pebble Ive go my fingers crossed for a new google Pebble watch, I <3-ed the Pebble Time and only reluctantly switched over to a Gear Sport because of the server shutdown

I’m still quite not sure why people, especially tech reviewers, get so excited about Google hardware. Their record on this front has been abysmal. I guess people think that Google putting its own software on its own hardware should produce Apple-like results in optimization, but that just hasn’t happened. Apple has been doing it for decades. Google started a few years ago, and I think has pretty much made a mess of it. One can even argue that Samsung now does software on its hardware better than Google does. But people keep dreaming about Google, for some reason.

My experience with Fitbit products and software has been crappy. Three devices and all died just past the warranty period. Their software and support is garbage. I hope Google can successfully drain the swamp and rebuild that company because I feel they have systemic problems that can’t be easily solved without firing half the company.

Fitness tracker should have reliable accurate sensor hardware, hope Google shall keep it in that way

Pixel3 user (former BB) and a victim. The device is a disaster, been to service station 4 times! Freezes or shows errors. Unreliable. Everyone in my circle uses apple. Not sure if I’ll invest in a G watch or simply switch entirely to apple.

Sod this smart watch nonsense. I’m saving my money for a mechanical automatic watch. It’ll outlast this rubbish, and no battery waste.

Well I still have not bought one yet I’m , and I will not because I’m happy holding out for a better cpu chip speed and stand alone so Google has caught my attention because maybe cloud streaming may be the future with Google. I have only been a flagship powerhouse guy but a standalone Google watch would take my eyes of a Samsung and such. So for now its note line hardware for me.

Are they going to attempt to merge the Fitbit operating system with Android Wear? Or just dump Fitbit OS? Is there any hope that there will be something better than the Snapdragon 3100 in the future?

Google is great at putting smart stuff on their devices with AI. Now they have to convince people to actually buy their watches. Nobody’s going to say “hey I’ll buy a Google watch because it has great AI”.
