A few minutes into this, the Professors makes no sense. He tells us that AFTER to Iranians reach 90% enrichment, and only after, they will begin to make all the other devices necessary for a nuclear weapon. But why wouldn’t they make this stuff before the enrichment is complete?

thank you WIRED and Professor Masoud for this production. It is not only insightful but also more importantly gives a clearer indepth explanation on both the conflict’s origin and the global crisis, which im fairly certain many people in the White House are absolutely lacking knowledge of. I would be so keen to read up if HU will publish a modern history book with Prof Masoud as one of its authors

Only the most deeply insecure nations feel the need to have others be ‘friendly’ with them. You could agree to be cordial and leave each other alone, but no. Obviously the intent behind that friendship is obviously dubious in nature. But once again the rest of us with sense are forced to suffer the repercussions of the cancer that is Zionism/ the UK/US pet project pseudo-state, Americas insatiable neo-colonial bloodlust mindset, and rampant poorly (intentionally) regulated capitalism that puts profit before people. It’s all so very boring.

  30. @MirMotorsLLC

    April 21, 2026 at 6:57 pm

Some misinformation about why IRI does not like US. The story didn’t start after the 1979 revolution, but long before that, when CIA assassinated Iran’s Democratically elected prime minister in 1967, denying the Iranian people the right to democracy, leaving the door open for the influence of the west and the Zionist regime, thus giving birth to the idea of Islamic Republic and the extremist clergy that we have in power in Iran today. Please do you research first Mr. Professor!!!

Middle Easterns/Iranians are fundamental. They observe everything as written, if you make a deal with them they honor it to the letter. If you break an agreement with them you made, its kind of hard for them to trust you to keep your word on a new one. Cough cough America

What would you expect them to do right now by the way? Us bombing them, threatening to bomb them to the Stone age? Bombing school children? Would you expect them to say we love America? I don’t really think that makes much sense

at 12:03, the tab for the cost in the defense of the gulf states will goes not to the US but to the protectorates. Iran is one of the 7 countries in the US list & the last man standing. also, the only arab oil that isnt under US control. US will not stop causing war around the world: new weapons need to be tested & the weapon manufacturing oligarchs need riches (these are just 2 examples of US interest)

The US lost the war the minute Trump dropped the first bomb. Iran was undergoing an internal revolution that would overturn the Ayatollah regime after 50 years. Trump killed that opposition by playing into the “Great Satan” rhetoric that the Ayatollahs have used against the US since the 1970s. Then he bombed a girls’ school and it was all over. Now the Ayatollahs have another decade of power. Bush gave them 20 years with his foolish invasion of Iraq, and now Trump renewed them for another decade. The Iranian Opposition is dead because Trump killed it.

  63. @mattosso7676

    April 22, 2026 at 1:03 pm

13:54 There is no scenario where America wins the war in Iran. We don’t have enough troops or resources. Defending a country is much easier than invading and controlling a country.

In 7.10 there were way more than 700 civilians killed. More like 1200 dead and tens of tousands injured. In about one day. What other country was responsible for such devestation in human history?
And please don’t give me Natzi Germany or Russia as an example. It’s not even the same scale.

There was and will not be any other country in the world posing more threat to the stability of Middle East region as much as Iran. The Islamisc Republic has not only established, financed and supported terror woldwide for more than four decades now, they are actually first and foremost posing the biggest risk to their own ppl, the Iranian folk. These people deserve to live in peace, prosperity and democracy and it is for them (more than for anyone else) we need to fight the islamic republic and lead to a regime change.

  70. @jimpence1

    April 22, 2026 at 5:45 pm

20:09 A better explanation is that the Iranian regime only paid lip service to Palestine until the events in 1982 in Lebanon, which permanently tied the fate of the region’s Arab Shi’ites to Palestinians .

  73. @ambivalentsheep

    April 22, 2026 at 6:51 pm

The Trump administration stopped the Islamkist regime being toppled in Iran. There was a growing street led rebellion and what did the US do? Become an invading force that could unite the population in needing to focus on a biger external threat to their very existence rather than trying to change internally. It’s literally the opposite of what you should do as an outside force if you want to change the power in charge – it strengthens whoever is in power to act as the saviours of the nation against an aggressive invader – Ho Chi Minh and the Americans, the Taliban and the Americans, the Soviets post 1917 and the West, the French revolutionaries and Austria/Prussia.

And EVEN if they won then what? Look at Afghanistan and Iraq after so called wins? You think the Taliban and ISIS were bad? Iran in the grips of an even more radical anti West terrorist group with access to nuclear material and sitting on top of a fifth of the world’s oil? Why do Americans never learn anything. Unless theres the trillions it would take to rebuild democratic institutions and economic stability over decades like West Germany and post WW2 Japan then there is only going to be a worse situation after this.

any attempt at changing the iranian regime is a suicide mission, not only the majority of the iranian people support the current regime in principle and hate america, but also its of china and russias interst to maintain a country that opposes the west. and the oppoiste they wouldnt want more american influence close to them in the region. so you wouldnt be fighting iran alone. you would fight iran with the help of china and russia.

You can’t ever end the Iranian nuclear program until you kill then all.

The end goal appears to be greater American energy independence, and training our capabilities.

There really isn’t an American “loss” here. There are many Israeli loss conditions, but not really for America. We’re really not here.

A secondary American win condition appears to be stronger bargaining against nato, and more control or the dissolution of the alliance.

I mean… This war should never have started, and Trump is an insane lunatic. But at this point, they would have to literally nuke Iran to cause enough human attrition to “win” the war.
Afghanistan has repeatedly taught the world powers that you cannot win in the middle east by fighting and holding ground alone.
Wherever that religion has majority, you are not fighting a army. You are fighting a population of fanatics.

I disagree with the “lose allies” partially. There are 2 reasons. One is, like you said, rising cost of the war. Is a concept called “countervalue”. The second one is punishment. Thise countries are not “innocent” based on international law, as they were used for the agression (has been docimented) by letting their bases, airspace and soils for launching attacks.

Why did the US invading that island only a single sentence in this video and not the basis of a couple more sentences whereby they and their little satellite state can just take bits of other countries, but if Russia does it, it’s an absolute catastrophe. It’s a huge deal if anyone does it.

Iran is targetting other middle eastern countries because they are complicit in the US attacks. It a bit like if u drove a serial killer around a city, knowingly stopping at houses for the killer to murder people. The law will consider u a murderer too, even though you did not pull the trigger. The middle eastern countries are allowing the USA to attack Iran. They are complicit in this war and will get attacked. That is how it has always worked in history. He is not much of a professor if this fact is beyond his awareness.

HHH are not Iran proxies maybe allies or supplied by. Iran was not a threat to the Americas. They do not have the ability to launch an attach on the Continental US. I heard enough. It was the USA that acts of terror and an illegal change of Government by instilling a dictator Reza Pahlavi who sold out Iran to the USA. Every empire acts with impunity till it collapses economically. The US threatened Greenland and Canada and have attacked or killed millions in many wars. They started as terrorists to the King and they remain committed to their roots. I know that good people live in the US, nonetheless, they like most citizens of the world, do not shape policies of their respective countries. In short do NOT BS us.

good entry-level explanation. i’m not so sure about the nuclear capability, one way or the other. on the one hand, yes, historically they’ve been on the verge of nuclear weapons for years, and whether or not US, Israeli, or other efforts have effectively delayed that is only known to those within those top secret circles. on the other hand, having allies that have access to nuclear weapons would cut down on research, development and production efforts and time. knowing what missile programs they DO have, it doesn’t seem too far off to expect them to have a capable warhead. though i would expect them to brag about it more, so that’s a very good point.

    April 27, 2026 at 8:46 am

Unfortunately, time and time the Prof says “Iranians” want this and that while what he means is the “Islamic Republic” regime. First thing you need to know about Iranians is that most of us want the exact opposite of what the regime is after. You can keep that in mind as a general rule I’d say. The regime has murdered, tortured and imprisoned thousand of Iranians for years. We are its hostages.
It is not correct to say Iranians hold grudges against US and Israel because of a coup tens of years ago. These equations just appear in academia. In real life, we want to be a normal country, unlike what the regime has pushed for since 1979. It seems too much geopolitics make people forget to ask how actually the Iranians think and feel about all of this. Ask Iranians!

  164. @desruc21

7:12 In Iran, there are pro-regime people and those who are against the regime. There is no real rallying around the flag because of attacks by Israel or the United States. Those who support the regime have always rallied around it, and those who oppose it will not rally around the IR flag. These attacks do not change anyone’s side.

  171. @miriamm5260

    April 27, 2026 at 5:06 pm

He isn’t biased. He just wants to come across that way.
He acts as though Iran only hates the US because it feels like it. But there are many reasons behind the Iranians’ anger. And they are not without justification.

More people die as a result of economic sanctions than in war.
Economic sanctions have been in place since 1980. Without clear rules. And this is also a subject of debate among academics.
During the Iran-Iraq War, the US – without being a party to the conflict – simply bombed the Iranian oil fields and sank the Iranian navy.
Then there was the Iran Air flight that the US shot down over Iranian territorial waters. 290 civilians dead.

I saw a clip recently of trump talking about Iran in the ’80s. Israel has been in his ear this entire time.

**Proposal: A Long-Term Resolution to the Iran-Israel Conflict*
**Core Idea:** Physically separate the Iranian population by creating a new sovereign homeland for those who want peace, while isolating the current regime.

    **Steps:**
    – Launch a coordinated PSYOP campaign to promote the vision of “New Persia” — a utopian desert homeland with discovered underground water resources.
    – Negotiate purchase or treaty for uninhabited or underutilized desert territory with an aquifer.
    – Reform education and media inside Iran to gradually shift public opinion toward relocation.
    – Facilitate voluntary mass migration of moderate Iranians to the new territory.
    – Once the regime is isolated with minimal population, neutralize remaining hardliners.
    – Israel funds reconstruction and development of the new homeland as part of the peace settlement.
    – The abandoned Iranian territory becomes a demilitarized, potentially commercial zone.

This creates an organic separation of factions, prevents endless war cycles, and gives peaceful Iranians a fresh start. Bold, expensive, but potentially decisive.
    Seperate them like irate toddlers😮

If you cannot see Iran is a victim of oppression and unfairness your geopolitical lenses are very foggy. They have good hearts the strength and determination to fight for their beliefs.
