Google is taking another shot at the premium laptop market with its Googlebooks, priced at $899 and built around Gemini AI and with tighter integration with Android phones. Sameer Samat, president of the Android Ecosystem at Google, explains why the company combined elements of Android and ChromeOS for the new experience and how some of the new features are designed to challenge Apple and Microsoft in the AI PC race. He joins Ed Ludlow on “Bloomberg Tech.”

I really want this to be successful so Windows crashes and burns, but they should have not called the OS Googlebook OS, instead they should’ve just called it Android Desktop

At $899, this must be server-based AI. It does not address privacy with a locally secured AI. Pichai is desparate to retain Google user traffic.

This is really cool. I use a higher end model made by Asus that came out in Q4 2025. I’m not going to state the model and features and other capabilities but mine also has built in AI and interconnectivity as well and it’s actually not a hard process to integrate it as some may think as described in the video. My experience and expectations with AI have been great and thus far when it comes to the leadership aspect, Gemini is the clear leader overall for me hands down! Always looking forward towards the power of Google/Alphabet/Gemini products and services, I love it.

It’s strange to me that companies are continuing to use the term AI in branding, almost everyone I know, both personally and at my job cringe now when they hear the term AI, it’s associated with AI data centers, potential loss of jobs, using it to cheat within academics etc. In other words, nothing positive. I would think companies would know that consumers are feeling a bit exhausted of AI taking over every aspect of tech, I know I am!

I hear about this constantly. I don’t know about you, but I don’t have time to constantly change my os… not to mention the corrupt files that come out of a cloud.
