The Only bad move is introducing the pixel 4a 5g. like only 2 hundred difference to the 5 so why you need to buy the 4a 5g . I believe the best selling will be phones with big price gap the 4a no 5g and the 5

People need to realize that the only reason the pixels used to get unlimited cloud storage was cuz it was sold exclusively on Verizon and verizon was the only carrier to say yes to allowing customers to have that must data from photos and videos being transferred back and forth, mostly due to all the money Verizon could make from overage fees from customers using too much data cuz at the time Verizon was the only major carrier to still have data caps

So once the pixels start launching with T-Mobile and att, they had to remove that unlimited cloud data cuz those carriers didn’t want a bunch of their customers using that much data they couldn’t make extra money from since they’d be on unlimited plans

The fact that Google’s only producing an embarrassing 800,000 Pixel 5 units should tell you that even they know it’s yet another Pixel flop. 🤦‍♂️

I currently have a Pixel 2XL and I have become very loyal to the Pixels ever since getting this phone. For me, I definitely want one of these phones, however it all boils down to which one has the better battery life, as that is one of the most important things for me. Anyone have any insight on the battery life for these phones?

8 MP on a front camera is very wrong in 2020!!! No microSD card is very wrong too and I do know why Google does that but they have to focus on creating a phone that users want to buy!! I won’t buy a phone without a microSD card slot!!

Coming from the Pixel 2XL, this is a worthwhile upgrade for me. Fingerprint reader is a deal breaker for me, it’s been my preferred unlock and authentication method, the face unlock strikes me as very impractical, I can set either index finger to unlock, and I can unlock from any position. Face unlock? Stare into the camera seems dumb to me. Stick with tried and true I say.

Better battery life is always welcome as well, and with my aging battery getting less stellar life over time and the charging port getting wear, charging is becoming a chore. It’s better than micro USB days, but I’m sick of charging ports wearing out on all my phones, it’s the single point of failure that always ends up making me upgrade. I might get a magnetic disconnect and just leave the USB plugged in permanently.

Wireless charging is welcome, but it’s also kind of hard on the battery. My Nexus 6 stopped taking even a wireless charge after a while. So I wouldn’t rely on it for daily charging. Though maybe I just had a bad experience on the Nexus 6? The back was curved, making it not very ideal for wireless charging, and finding the sweet spot was hard.

Overall I’m pretty sure one of these is my next phone. And with 5G it might be my next phone for a very long time since it’ll basically be future proof (until they decide 6G is in order anyway, and here I thought “LTE” was supposed to be the end of the “Gs”). The only question, Pixel 5? Or Pixel 4a 5G? (That’s a mouthful!)

Project soli is so annoying when I have the phone mounted on the car dashboard. The slightest arm movements could trigger the “play next” motion

  44. Billy Simms

    October 1, 2020 at 11:07 pm

Neither. 5G is over hyped, hole punch cameras horrible, midrange phone with a premium price tag. No XL option, no Quad HD display. I’ll keep my 4XL for another year and if Google hasn’t come to their senses in 2021 with the Pixel 6 XL then it’s goodbye Google hello Samsung.

I realize people likely arent going to notice the difference in processor performance, but kind of feels bad paying 200$ more for their “flagship” that uses the same chip as the lower end model. Almost like Google didn’t care about their newest device.

  58. redstang70

    October 2, 2020 at 4:49 pm

Other than being mid rangers which sucks if the 4A 5G had wireless charging it would be the clear winner for sure. Having only 128gb of storage in 2020 is a total joke though, should be 256 min and offer 512 as well. Google needs to really get with the times in regards to storage and ram.

I seem to break phones quite easily My pixel 2 XL has been destroyed multiple times.. Do you think if I got a 4A 5G I could improve it by getting a really good case and screen protector or am I just going to break that and should go with the Pixel 5?
