Thanks for watching! Are you team Note or team S series? 🖊

I’m liking my new S²²U but do miss my mst of my N²⁰U… however the expandable storage option is a drawback from my upgrade I never really used it anyway, plus I don’t know if you seen Samsung’s new usb-c hard drives, but awful nifty as well as more durable than your phone could ever be…
Are the main things that’s bugging me is the bezel difference as well as the s22 ultra being slightly thicker I know it’s not much but the note 20 Ultra was just so slim and sleek, feels a bit strange to reduce my screen size when upgrading but.. an obvious sign of Market demand..

I sold my Note 20 Ultra for $900 on Saturday but I canceled my order for the S22 Ultra. I know I’m gonna get that burgundy S22 Ultra later this year but for now I’m looking and considering other brands. I’ve owned all the Notes from the first so I’m good for a brief respite. Happy to see my favorite CNET reviewer Lexy. She’s always awesome 👏🏽🤗💯

The original idea for the Note Series was to have the best of the best in a beast of a phone. The camera was the first thing samsung did ignore to that idea. So to have a great camera plus the pen is coming back to the roots of the note series. Love it. Sorry for my English

Sticking with the s20 note for now. S22U not having SD card is a deal breaker for me. Not enough difference in camera to give up SD card

Regarding the battery life. Rather than turning off the AOD, try running the S22 Ultra at Standard refresh with your Bixby routines to match the Note 20 Ultra. More of an apples to apples comparison, and you might see a bigger difference in consumption.

  4. Solun

    March 7, 2022 at 6:21 pm

Great comparison, thanks. Cnet came a long way from the time when their reviews consisted of some a-hole complaining half the time about the samsung phone not having iMessage.

You said 120 hertz adaptive refresh rate is only available in the QHD option of the s22 ultra and that’s just not true…

    • Lexy Savvides

      March 7, 2022 at 7:24 pm

It’s available on all resolutions on s22U sorry if that wasn’t clear

    • Ryan Wheeler

      March 7, 2022 at 8:20 pm

      @Lexy Savvides
around the 3:15 mark You said & I quote, “both screens support an adaptive 120 hertz refresh rate, however, it’s only available at the maximum WQHD+ resolution on the S22U ”
that could possibly explain why it wasn’t that clear 🤷🏻‍♂️ solid review and comparisant tho fr

    • Lexy Savvides

      March 7, 2022 at 8:36 pm

@Ryan Wheeler oh I see. That was because I was referring to the note not having 120hz at wqhd +

Great video, keep up the great work! The new s22 ultra is a great looking phone, but it’s not enough to make me get rid of the note 20 ultra! I’ll wait for the next one

  9. Kavina B

    March 7, 2022 at 7:37 pm

I bought the s21 ultra and “downgraded” to the note 20 ultra. Best decision I ever made. I love this phone. And I don’t see any reason to get the s22 ultra having owned the 21. The note 20 was ahead of its time

Been missing MST and expandable storage since my S10+ 😫

IT’S THE SAME PHONE, almost same form factor, almost same camera, cannot tell the difference in speed. ITSS THEEE SAMEE PHONE

  12. Ruby Mouse

    March 7, 2022 at 8:57 pm

I think it’s actually a note 21 ultra – as the upgrades from the note 20 or the s21 are minor really. I like mine but it’s very heavy.

  13. Tyrone

    March 7, 2022 at 9:09 pm

2-3 hours of screen on time and only 20 percent of battery left at the end of a day????

  14. Weekend Warrior

    March 7, 2022 at 10:03 pm

MST is definitely missed. Still quite a few places don’t take it (home depot, Walmart) and just knowing there’s a chance that NFC may not be accepted , Means I have to take my wallet.

  15. Ray Johnson

    March 7, 2022 at 10:09 pm

lexy, why would you give less props to s22u on the charging even though you have 5ah more battery capacity or 10% bigger battery. but did it 20 mins faster which in real world is near a 40% increase because of the size difference and the speed increase.

    • Lexy Savvides

      March 7, 2022 at 11:02 pm

I wouldn’t say I gave it less props at all! The biggest drawback for me is that you need to buy a 45w charger if you want the benefits… because you know, even a regular25w is not included the box anymore 😂

  16. Yehuda D Malamud

    March 7, 2022 at 10:13 pm

    • Lexy Savvides

      March 7, 2022 at 11:12 pm

The dark grey on the S22U is from Cyrill by Spigen, the light grey is Samsung’s own leather one

    March 8, 2022 at 12:24 am

I could care less what they call it… We all know it’s a note. But as long as it’s a good phone that’s all that matters. People hanging on that name too much. Also the no MST is not a big deal anymore. Most places accept phone pays now. No SD card slot does kinda blow..but 256gb is really okay for me but I know some will use alot more space.

    March 8, 2022 at 12:26 am

The s22 ultra the white color has the best color for not being dirt or dust magnet like all other colors maybe it is the only lighter color that doesn’t show much dirt especialy on the camera around the rings.

Definitely miss the MST and the expandable memory on my N20U

  28. Nathan Shearer

    March 8, 2022 at 6:51 am

The missing microsd expandable storage is a deal breaker for me. My Note 20 has a 1TB microsd card in it and I really do need that space. Cloud storage is not an option for many reasons.

    March 8, 2022 at 7:05 am

regarding batterly life comparison, did you account for the fact that the Note 20 Ultra’s battery is 1.5 years old – and thus somewhat degraded? New, I’d guess both would be similar…?

  31. Heverton Nascimento

    March 8, 2022 at 7:17 am

Refreshing review! I’m almost buying the Note20 Ultra because the price is 700 dollars in my region today. Of course I’d like the S22 Ultra but the price difference is very high right now. Should I wait?

Hahaha joke’s on you. The Note 20 Ultra is available for more than the S21 Ultra but the kicker, it’s still more than the S22 Ultra.
It really doesn’t make any sense.

  34. Thatoneguy

    March 8, 2022 at 9:49 am

It would be crazy if they made the next Galaxy Fold with the screen size of 2 Galaxy S Ultras together.

  35. Maxx Koggen

    March 8, 2022 at 10:00 am

Samsung makes no damn sense. You but a phone called “Ultra” and yet you cannot chose what resolution and refresh rate you want indipendantly. Your choices are fixed?
    This is some BS

  36. Sherwin Lu

    March 8, 2022 at 10:24 am

Adaptive refresh rate only at the cost of more battery life for WQHD+ 🙁 I thought they’d have Adaptive on all resolutions since they did it on the lowest in the Note 20 Ultra before
