Old people are always saying i remember my parents getting the (enter old technology here) and it was so big and bulky. I don’t think anyone cares much about the 3k heavy, battery in your pocket to use it, vision device apple wants us to care about. Apple wants you interested in their products. CNET wants you interested in their videos. On your deathbed neither will matter. What will matter will be the loved ones present. Not the pictures/videos taken. For all time. always lol just finished watching Loki.

and great idea to take some now…. some company will find some much cheaper way to view these even if not in Vision Pro level quality and full immersion…. even if just a future novelty you might want at least some personal ‘samples’ of video of your fam for later. i feel people dont bother, unless a really strict family tradition, to go back through old photo albums or home videos too much anyway, so this gives the perfect excuse to record some now and have the reason to view them later in a new technology. get some video now for even just a few future viewings

It’s a strange implementation of the tech. I’m speaking from experience shooting 180-degree 3D VR with my Canon R5C and dual fisheye VR lens and then viewing the result on my Quest headset. I am surprised to see that it is only 1080 on the iPhone 3D recordings. I am shooting 8k on my Canon, which comes out to 4k for each eye and it still does not look *amazing*. What I find strange is that Apple is demonstrating the resulting footage in a window instead of immersive. Maybe the spread between the lenses is not enough to truly get a good 3D experience? Well, in any event, I hope that Apple’s foray into the VR space results in easier workflows for the VR professional. And, please for the love of god remove the fake eye display on the front. It makes me cringe every time I see that demo.

  27. Mad Designer

Thousands have lost their lives in a very sort space of time. But all your care about is spatial video! Lives gone, families shattered and wiped out, pregnant women giving birth to new born while hellfire missiles fly over them!

Where is your soul for humanity?

    • Micah Hughes

      November 18, 2023 at 6:25 am

Bruh people care, but people have to live their life’s. Are you saying people have to talk about that 24/7? Also for me personally I don’t watch the news. People die everyday. What’s the point in watching that unless you’re going to do something about it, or if it has some kind of impact on you?

    • Mad Designer

      November 18, 2023 at 6:38 am

@Micah Hughes got your attention regardless of you’re view point! If tables were turned on you, I will use your comment! But then again I won’t as I have a soul! No one should experience hellfire missile bombs dropping on them regardless!

    • Micah Hughes

      November 18, 2023 at 6:59 am

@Mad Designer what do you mean by if tables were turned on me? Like if I was in their situation? Honestly I wouldn’t want people wasting their time/emotion on me unless they actually were going to help.

Why? I feel like life is already hard enough for a lot of people, and I feel like it’s best to just focus on what you can do instead of focusing on things that make you depressed.

People die everyday. Someday you will die and same with me. It’s normal, it’s life.

For me I just wanna make the most of the life I got.

I’ve been a fan of the concept of 3d capture since I had my HTC Evo 3D but the tech just wasn’t there and it was gimmicky at best. The Vision Pro is the first time I’ve been genuinely excited to see how it plays out. The potential uses for memories, mapping, therapy, crime scene capture, mechanical assistance, etc… is just going to be amazing. Many of us can only see this through the lens of experiences had but somewhere there is going to be some kid who gets this and dreams up a use case that will change the course of film making or human interaction and shared experiences. Truly an exciting time to be alive and see the potential birth of a new standard in tech.

4K spacial video is not available… yet. It probably gonna come on a future iPhone. I am guessing iPhone 16 Pro will be able to capture 1080p spacial video at 60fps. Maybe iPhone 17 pro will get 4K 30fps. Who knows. That is if vision pro even does well. But I think it will because Apple has very deep pocket users.

Im excited about the headset replacing TV/projectors. I have a big home theater setup that cost so much to create over 10 years. The idea that a headset could easily replicate a giant IMAX screen that’s also got all the benefits of OLED has me excited

  46. Daniel T. L. Nielsen

    November 18, 2023 at 1:55 pm

I don’t get that this can only be watched inside the Apple Vision. Why don’t use the iPhone 15 Pro’s gyro to utilize the 3D effect in the videos? This will also be amazing on the iPhone 15 Pro’s screen. And make a 3D effect on a 2D screen.
