What’s really going on with that Unreal Engine 5 reveal? Jeff Bakalar breaks down which gaming news you should be paying attention to, including rumors and everything there is to know about the upcoming next-generation consoles.

This week it’s the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 remaster, a new Paper Mario game, hints inside Call of Duty Warzone about the next installment in the franchise, and a weird story about Gears of War 3 showing up on a PlayStation 3.

From Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 The High & Mighty ft. Mos Def & Mad Skillz “B-Boy Document ’99” (clean/radio edit of course to share with all audiences). Between Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater series and the Madden games (as well as some of the other EA Sports games) the gaming soundtracks produced some great use of new and old tracks for gamers to enjoy. These type of collaborations helped to blend music enjoyment into what it is today where folks don’t just subscribe to one genre or type of music.

Love that you never surrender your way of saying Mario (though I do pronounce it “Maw-rio”) as it continues to show your originality and stick-to-it-iveness to convince the rest of us we’re saying it wrong.

Got nothin’ but love for ya, Mr. Bakalar.

Keep the posts and insights coming, and stay safe out there.

Tony Hawk… Nope. Can’t get behind it. I’m 5’8″ and my inseam is only 27, so any lean by my upper body means I am bound for the floor (at 163Lbs, so not overweight but not “skinny”). I tried riding a skateboard many, many, many times but any lean to try and turn would give only 3° or so of turn (including when I rode with only the balls of my feet and toes on the board edge… 3°. Those things suck because they refuse to turn no matter how hard you press down on an edge and or lessen the nuts). The exact same happened when I leaned my body off the board as far as I could, yet still barely turned on all 8 of the boards I tried. I can snowboard well on a pipe board (your feet are equal distance from the front [R foot] and rear [L foot] of the board – But on a rearward positioned board things become more challenging) so what is it with skateboards that they absolutely refuse to cooperate? So in the early 1990’s I completely abandoned skateboards.
So NO, I am not excited about such a game at all. Ride my 06 GSXR750 as often as I can (on those hanging my body off the edge, barely on the motorcycle at all results in an extremely hard and fast turn so long as I have the throttle open enough but still very quick when it’s not so open). I have 0% reason to care or show any excitement so I don’t care at all about a Tony Hawk game.

    • YoltsBp

      May 25, 2020 at 1:21 pm

If that was so then a laptop with a gpu weaker than i rtx 2060 couldnt out perform the ps5. Yeah they ran this demo on a laptop that out performed the ps5 lmfao

    • Nick Brennan

      May 26, 2020 at 9:49 am

@YoltsBp idiot that was debunked already as a video of the demo running on the laptop. Try harder troll…

  41. Jensen Raylight

    May 25, 2020 at 2:25 am

sorry, but your opinion is misleading, and straight up false,
you are biased toward xbox x, and you make a heavy opinionated video
i guess CNET are not a trustworthy media after all
    i’m a gamedev
UE5 choose ps5 because ps5 is the fittest machine to run the UE5 Beast,
ps5 can maximize the engine potential
you know what? even if xbox run UE5 game, the quality are not the same like in the demo,
just because you make your game with UE5 doesn’t mean it have the same quality across all console platform
in UE4, you can toggle a few button to minimize or maximize the performance
(lower effect, lower lightning quality, lower pixel, lower texture)
if they choose xbox for their presentation, they need to do a lot of compromise,
they probably won’t be able to showcase nanite and lumen with the highest quality on console,
Unreal team are full of Smart and intelligent people
nobody in the right mind want to choose a bad driver to win the race

    • YoltsBp

      May 25, 2020 at 1:24 pm

Are you serious? If so how did a laptop out perform the ps5 with a gpu weaker than a desktop rtx 2060? Look it up that ssd isnt making magic.

    • Xavier Magnus

      May 25, 2020 at 6:46 pm

They said it will run fine on Xbox, probably didn’t mention because it was ps5s show. But the ssd definitely matters and is key. Also gamedev.

    • jason freeman

      May 26, 2020 at 9:17 am

You’re an idiot if you think an SSD is doing more for games then higher RAM bandwidth, more compute units, more teraflops, faster CPU and the fact xbox gets access to native RTX cores and DirectX12 Ultimate no SSD is gonna pull that weight that much.

    • Jensen Raylight

      May 26, 2020 at 2:04 pm

  45. George Cristian

Why Epic choose PS5 and not Xbox? It’s because of the popularity of the console. Maybe Sony already made the devkit available to developers earlier than Xbox. Most of Sony studios make games only for ps5. Microsoft studios make games for Xbox and and Pc.
So Sony wins the contest with the most exclusive games. And boy what games :))).
Xbox is great too in many ways but Microsoft don’t give the attention that this console deserves.

    • jason freeman

      May 26, 2020 at 9:13 am

Its marketing there’s no choosing lol sony sent them a bunch of money and they made a presentation. You realize Unreal has been working with Microsoft for many many years. I mean what do you think HellBlade and Gears of War uses as a engine.
