Sorry, your analysis is typical, things will become so cheap no one is rich nor poor. Otherwise we are just dead. Either way humanity is in the path to self destruction, abundance may not be great, it breeds excess, and comfort… which invites restlessness, chaos and ignorance.

Very naive of him especially since there is very very little regulation around agi

how do you expect humans to not advance the technology forward? it’s gonna happen anyway and remember there are much less benign countries outside of the US who will also develop the AI and use it for evil deeds

Oh good, so basically hubris. That always works well for humanity.

Humans are already going extinct so maybe this will assist with the next evolution. Are we better than what was here last? Hmm…how’s this determined? Humans have caused their own extinction. At least the dinosaurs were taken out by misquotes mostly prior to the astroid finishing off their already weakened state.

The arguement is flawed for every good thing AI gives to humanity, the same amount of abuse or dare I say more damage would occur. Because the problem isnt technology, rather the problem is the broken humanity welding AI.

Society isn’t ready for more power. Unfortunately, for that same reason every country feels it’s necessary to get more power to not fall behind their rivals.

Seems a little unreasonable. There are many competing groups. I’m sure they realize if they don’t make it someone else will. But also, if a AI that could wipe out humanity was created a different similarly powerful AI would probably be needed to combat it, so its a good thing there are many groups working on AGI.
Can’t say I really understand the opinion in this short. It seems narrowed in scope. Why would it matter what inspires an executive to support AI development? Its happening either way and its good there are so many trying, so isn’t it a useless thing to be concerned over? I mean, I’m all for hating on rich people if it can contribute to improving my life by inspiring a positive change, but something like that needs teeth. It can’t just be musing about them having hubris and getting a sense of superiority by punching up. No matter how eloquently you phase it, just calling them dumb with no tangible gain is just kids’ stuff.
