My sister is an RN in Oklahoma and she went to New York for 2 months to help out. She’s such a strong woman but that took its toll on her. I think some of these healthcare workers will end up with PSTD.

Holy cow, watching this makes me realize just how bad crime is in US. I mean, I knew it wasn’t good, but watching a doctor’s POW is way different than just seeing stuff on the news. Makes it way more real I guess. And all this during a pandemic… people are just, I’ve no words.

Why is she wearing a mask on her chin? If the mask is contaminated and she moves it down to her chin, she is basically breathing in the viral particles stuck on the mask. Not a great example on how to wear a mask correctly.

    July 26, 2020 at 1:45 pm

This is the most informed piece on hospitals and covid that I’ve seen.
(And, no. I didn’t know it was a vascular illness.)

  60. Ann M.

    July 26, 2020 at 2:44 pm

She’s incredible, and so calm, but the psychological fallout among health care workers will be felt for years to come.

  61. diane shelton

    July 26, 2020 at 3:39 pm

Do not ever wear your mask on under your chin like that you just are infecting that part of your neck and chin then touching it then touching your face.
Never touch the outside of your mask.
As a doctor she should not need to be told this.
I am finding it so off putting her really poor mask routine.

Lol racism in a virus – dark skin individuals of any race need to be taking vitamin D as recommended world wide! Also people need to stop shooting each other in your poorly ran State! If your state government would tell the dark skin individuals of any race to take vitamin D and possibly provide it to those who can’t afford it the numbers in that category would lesson. Sounds like your state and city governments hate people of color and want you all to suffer with Covid-19!

This is just a stupid observation, but it seems that anti-lockdown protests and the anti-mask crowd seem to be mostly Caucasian people..A group of people that are disproportionally unaffected by Covid19. As if they don’t take it seriously because they aren’t personally impacted. Obviously the vast majority of Caucasians aren’t like that, which is great! But it’s just a thought that entered my mind while Dr. Onishi was explaining how minorities are disproportionally infected with covid19.

With how many people have been laid off and are unable to find new jobs due to the pandemic, reopening is their only hope of survival even if it puts them and everyone else at a vastly higher risk of infection. Not everyone was getting the full $600+ unemployment or getting it at all in many cases, and now it has lapsed. Minorities may be affected more by COVID, but to say any calls for reopening are racist because of that is the kind of crying wolf that makes it harder to immediately take any accusation of racism seriously, and waters down real racism. Hate to see Annie say something so outright wrong that I disagree with on a fundamental level like this.
