What about Aquagenic Pruritis? I have it and honestly I dread taking a bath as the pain is horrible. I’m on allergy medications and topical creams for my eczema. I even rub oil on before a shower, but nothing is working.

surely when it comes skin cancer all you need to do is expose your skin to the sun, you don’t even need to get a visable burn for skin cells to get damaged and become cancer.

I wish you’d have covered different types of hair loss. My understanding is alopecia androgenetica can be treated with finasteride, minoxidil and hair transplants

    • Doctorly

@De_lorean Ahh, I see how that can be confusing. I was specifically trying to say that it’s not completely reversible but I cover the topic you’re talking about on my channel. I have a video called the ultimate guide to hair loss, if you want to learn more about transplant and finasteride/mino

@Doctorly what was said about Genital warts and cancer is not correct, and it is panic inducing misinformation. There are people in the comments who think they will develop cancer or have given others cancer.

CDC fact sheet quote “ The types of HPV that can cause genital warts are not the same as the types of HPV that can cause cancers.”

Wanna get rid of acne. My cure was stop eating products with msg in it. Watch unblind my mind by catherine reid. It helped me with a lot more then bye bye acne. This video by this doctor annoyed me a bit. Why not tell people it might be allergies that cause acne. I always thought it was me eating chocolate but i still had them even when i didnt eat chocolate. Quiting sources of msg one bye one showed me it the true cause.
Jawline hairline acne. Thats when for a women its nearly time for period. I read that somewhere and looked at when they showed up and suprise suprise right in time just before period. Weird doctors dont know and keep going for attacking symptoms and not finding and treating the source. Like lets attack the pimple with a b and c. That never really worked for me. And now i look back on those that still have them. Pimples. They eat loads of stuff with msg in it. Or they smoke and drink a lot and some times both. I wish i had known sooner about hidden msg. It would have saved me a lot of trouble and acne.

a question here “My eye doctor says that I have this condition called nystagmus but this is mainly caused because I was rubbing my skin when i was like at 3 years old” Is this true?
And last year I had a minor knee accident where it led to some skin scar it’s like a bump and doctor said me to consult skin doctor. This happened after all the dressing was removed.

I have cystic acne on my chin. Being in my mid twenties I got frustrated and did some googling and I went to the gyno and they did tests… came back my hormone levels are perfectly normal so of course nothing they can do about it.
In my googling I found a medication called spironolactone. I messaged my pcp and asked for it. She asked some questions, prescribed it… I still get some acne but it’s not cystic. Big improvement.

    December 10, 2021 at 9:32 pm

One grows weary of this supposed wisdom never to pop pimples: Different people have different skin-types, and whereas expressing acne may lead to scarring in some, not doing so in others effects protracted inflammation, and worsens the likelihood and the severity of scarring.

Curious… no one asked the quesion I have: What’s the difference between “chemical” and “physical” sunscreens so one is made with benzones and the other is zonc oxide. Is one more effective? Is one better for the environment? I’ve read that chemical sunscreen is bad for the environment and may be bad for your skin but then I’ve also read that new evidence about the zinc particles may suggest it could be harmful for your skin – more than chemical sunscreens 🤷‍♂️

    • Sabrina

      December 12, 2021 at 1:06 am

neither nor is better/worse for the environment regarding current data. neither nor is bad for your skin but it’s been observed that people with sensitive skin had less reactions to physical than chemical sunscreen. physical spfs form a physical barrier whereas chemical absorb it/react with uv rays

There certainly IS a cure for Male Pattern Baldness.

It has been known for millennia. Get yourself gelded like a steer. Despite the Hollywood trope, eunuchs have “great” hair, and geldings are so much better behaved than stallions. So get an orchidectomy.

Having your moles checked is SO simple and fast. DO IT!
TIP: it’s better to have your moles checked before summer (or winter, if you’re in the southern hemisphere) as they might look “angrier” than they are after they’ve been hit by UV radiation and it helps your dermatologist to do a more accurate evaluation.

Cystic acne most certainly causes scarring, regardless of popping them. They don’t pop anyway. My sister and I call them bone splitters, because they remain in the pore, sealed into the skin and instead push on interior nerves. They feel like they are splitting your jaw.

Love this video! In my early 30s because, well, I’m trying to slow down becoming a raisiny leather shoe 😆 the hormonal acne thing can be frustrating – I don’t generally get acne otherwise and my skin is more dry and prone to flakiness. Having an IUD basically eliminated that all together but once I was coming to the end of the lifecycle of my last IUD, the hormonal acne came screaming back – such a rude awakening haha.

I liked them overall, but… There were a couple of quips that were weirdly immature to me– Primarily not wanting to hear about genital warts, when this person was just asking about a medical condition to see if they could get advice on it. And then about not wanting to see people’s feet. You’re a doctor! It’s important not to stigmatize any conditions, and people being confident enough to ask for input on their conditions is a wonderful thing.

    December 12, 2021 at 9:29 pm

technically it’s unfounded, but actually, aluminum itself is not dangerous to humans. what we do to aluminum to make things out of it gives the aluminum carcinogenic qualities. If you found aluminum in nature it’s fine. Aluminum cans are cancerous and aluminum things made by people are cancerous. Basically everything that people make is cancerous or inflammatory. Stick to all natural and organic as much as possible.

    • Tyler Hall

      December 12, 2021 at 11:15 pm

@Jarrod Christman Fuckin tryin to argue semantics for fun over here. lol obviously natural doesn’t mean good for you. cyanide isn’t good for you. lol your annoying. I’m not here to write books and cater to dumb people. I’m here to point people in the right direction so they can figure it out for themselves.

    • Jarrod Christman

      December 13, 2021 at 12:13 am

@Tyler Hall , nonetheless, you’re spreading half truth misinformation. You don’t understand the topics well enough to properly inform people, which arguably is more dangerous.

    • Jarrod Christman

      December 13, 2021 at 12:16 am

@Tyler Hall my point is to exercise caution here. Indeed, there are a lot of dumb people out there that’ll take a half truth and run with it.

    • Tyler Hall

      December 13, 2021 at 12:34 am

@Jarrod Christman They’ll also take the truth and ignore it. I don’t cater to dumb people. You can’t help to control what dumb people are going to think because they are sporadic. I see the attitude you have displayed in a lot of places. there is no hope for the dumb. A dumb person can take all of the knowledge in the world and do nothing with it, or worse. A smart person can have no knowledge at all, and they will slowly be able to decipher the truth for themselves. No one should listen to me, even if I display that I know exactly what I’m talking about. I want the smart people to hear something and then hunt down the articles for themselves and check sources for themselves. The dumb people will do whatever. Whole point is I believe that aluminum cans and other aluminum things are bad for you, and if you’re interested in that then you can figure it out for yourself. I just dropped the inkling. Like I said, dumb people will do whatever they will do.

this is the first winter in probably 4 i’m not going into a tanning bed. i would go if i was breaking out really bad but i’ve noticed some spots that i’m scared to get checked out so i stopped going. i also kind of like looking pale and i’m 25 so i’m heavily focused on anti-aging. hoping i didn’t do too much damage

3:08 This is little misleading. There are multiple different types (strains) of human papilloma virus (HPV). The strains that most commonly cause genital warts (HPV-6 and HPV-11) are different than the strains that have high risk of causing cervical cancer (especially HPV-16 and 18, also 31, 33 and many others). So having genital warts does not mean that you are in a risk of getting cancer or that you might spread cancer to other people. There are also multiple different vaccines, and while all of them are effective against cancer causing strains, only one of them also has effect on genital warts causing strains.

I have an urgent question regarding your answer on the genital warts subject. When I was around 5 or 6, I went to the doctor for this issue and got the wart frozen removed. I was never told about it being caused by HPV nor about the possibility of cervical cancer. I’m 17 now, should I consult a doctor? What should I look out for? I am baffled at the fact that I know I never got a vaccine for HPV. I hope I’m not being overcautious.

If the pimple is very big & close to the surface and close to rupture, ie. it has an obvious white top or is oozing, best to gently squeeze out the contents that are easy to squeeze out, ie chunky or greenish or white pus then disinfect well, light dressing (non-occlusive) for a few hours if it is oozing thin pus after. Don’t leave dressing on after it stops oozing unless the wound really needs protection. Make sure clothes are clean, change twice a day minimum clothing in contact with large pimples. Wash clothes and bed linens in hot water, and keep hands very clean to prevent spread of bacteria. Doing this can prevent some larger scars caused by certain big surface pimples. Ignore deeper ones with no obvious bursting point or just show to dermatologist if necessary.

The reason for pattern hair loss to my knowledgr is not, that the maximum number of replications has been exhaudted. That would mean, that in some areas of the head the replication went to fast and comoleted all of it’s cycles ahrsd of time, which is not the case. The rrason for pattern hair loss is a change in the growth cycle of the hair mediated by higher sensitivity of the follicles to a form of testosterone. So, I think he is drawing on the wrong concept here to explain hair loss. Its not that the cells have went through the max. number of divisions, it’s that the follicles are told to switch to telogenphase more readily by the hormone, with telogenphase being the shedding phase of the growth cycle of an invidiual follicle.

  197. Johannes Halberstadt

    December 17, 2021 at 4:47 pm

That being said, I have always wondered, if the concept of the maximum number of possible cell divisions might come into play with skin peels and retinoids and any other method, that increases skin cell turnover?
If the speed of reproduction of the skin is increased, it means more divisions take place in a given amount of time. What if the max. number of divisions is reached before the end of the persons life? What if the telomers in the skin cells are gone, but the person is still alive? What would happen to the skin then? Would the skin just dissapear and leave raw flesh? Would cells mutate to cancer? Or is there so much redundancy in the number of possible divisions of skin cells that, even if you double or triple turnover for 5 decades, there still would be enough possible devisions left for a long life?

We are wearing masks more often, and I’ve noticed that a few areas on my face that get routinely covered with one end up with worse acne. But if there is a period of time where I don’t have to be wearing masks all day I don’t end up with nearly the same amount. I tested this, and that’s what I noticed.

Is there a basis for this or am I just seeing a connection where there isn’t one?

ive been popping my pimples for years and have no (at least visible) scarring or any sort of damage/trauma. my skin is actually looking pretty great.
when i pop them, i wash my hands and nails and i make sure everything gets out at the first pop. then i wash my face right away with warm water, and rinse again with colder water. i follow with a water-based products skincare routine.
idk if the way i get rid of them is what specifically stops any infection or scarring, but i have a hunch that it is. it seems people dont pop their pimples well lol

Aluminum (present in antiperspirants mostly) does increase the risk of cancer (breast cancer specifically) as proved by researches, including a study conducted by Linhart et al. in 2017. Aluminum in low amounts does not increase the risk, however, aluminum accumulates in the breast tissue over time with daily use, which increases the risk of breast cancer especially in women.

“Stress causes acne” and when I’m stressed, I pick at my skin. It’s like a compulsive urge to scratch at a little bump whenever my head gets caught in all the upsetting thoughts. At this point it’s more scars and scab than actual acne, and some days I use ointment more than skincare. It’s upsetting and I’m very selfconcious about it, to the point I wish I could just skin myself and buy a new one…

It’s really about bettering mental health to look better, when the fact you don’t look good right now is making your mental health worse, so I completely agree: It’s a vicious cycle.
