I watched a lot of these Wired videos even contents which topics are not my interests but the presenters are engaging and makes me to continue watching…
But this one is kinda boring even if the topic is on my field…
She lacks energy…
I speed it up to 1.5x to finish the video quickly…

If you have aging parents around tech… find something they love and link it to tech. If they are not afraid of it they are less likely to panic or get enraged and make a mistake. At least that worked with my relatives

stopped the video when she said warning your relatives about scammers might be a good way to bond with them

The core hacking contingent of anonymous didn’t just get older. A lot of those guys got arrested or turned.

With all these Linux exploits of late, surprised they were not mentioned.

Also the use of AI (LLMs) to find zero-days and exploit them. Even writing code.
The entire landscape of it is different now and these are heavy topics an expert should certainly cover!

I love how it begins by gaslighting the first sender into thinking they are a bot.
Also one aspect of hacking people often misunderstood is that malicious hacking is not always clickity clackity on the keyboard and doing magic like media wants you to think. A big part of it is social engineering: understanding how the target thinks, recognising their patterns, vunerabilities and exploiting them. Breaking down a victim is usually easier than breaking down lines of codes.

7:00 Ngl I wish this person didn’t just go full fearmongering when describing the darknet. Did you know that journalists use the darknet? How about whistleblowers? Or people who live in heavily censored countries such as China and Iran? Or maybe someone who doesn’t wanna be tracked 24/7 by google and meta? Just saying
