Regardless of how many reservations they get, Ford won’t be making very many F-150 Lightnings, because each sale will result in the loss of a much more profitable F-150 ICE sale.

Yup, that plus battery constraints. This is not apples to apples. Tesla and Ford are in different stratosphere’s in the ev space. No mention of FSD?

I was so confused when he said: “a little higher…” The voiceover guy must have been a “little higher” than Snoop Dogg. XD

MKBHD did a much better and detailed review on the Ford. Particularly the details about the built in scale. This review made it seem like a “cool” gimmick, when in reality it seems integral to the charging and battery range calculations.

Yes, it was a fantastic advert for the Ford, I certainly wanted one after watching it 👹

    June 22, 2021 at 7:12 pm

What a slanted review – as many negative jabs at Tesla…. The CT crushes the Ford and I feel for you if you fall for the Ford. Built Ford Tough…. In aluminum…. The CT – Stainless Steel!

  7. MaZEEZaM

    June 22, 2021 at 7:13 pm

Urgh, does no one actually pay attention while watching, the prices people quote of $70k vs $90k are the top of the range models, it also quotes at the beginning of the video the BASE model pricing Ford: $39,974 and Tesla: $39,900.

    • Carter Harvey

      June 22, 2021 at 7:58 pm

$40k Lightning is the commercial fleet model. The base consumer model starts at $53k.

  8. Paul Boschen

    June 22, 2021 at 7:21 pm

How is $20k less, “slightly higher”. Were you biased before you started talking, or are you just really lazy. Tells me I probably shouldn’t really listen to anything you have to say..

Ford coming out with an electric pickup is like a cannibal sitting down to dine on his own leg.

Other than that funny pricing goof, a surprisingly good, broad summary. Excited to watch both of these. Rivian too, though it’ll be a smaller show. Who knows what GM is up to (Hummer doesn’t count for this market segment).

  12. Carter Harvey

    June 22, 2021 at 7:54 pm

$40k Ford Lightning is the commercial fleet model. Consumer models start at $53k.
Ford can make fewer than 100k Lightnings per year starting in 2022, based on having one battery factory rated at 9.8GWh.
Tesla will be able to make +500k Cybertrucks per year starting in 2022, based on having a new 4680 cell factory at GF Austin that’s planned to start operating at 100GWh, and ramp up to 250GWh.
If the Lightning is a success, Ford will have difficulty selling their gas F150s. Ford may just wind up being a victim of their own success and wind up Osborning themselves out of business.

It’s funny that nobody is talking about two of the most important aspects that Ford will loose drastically on. Charge Network and Software…

  17. dee leon

I like how ford is letting YouTubers play with the vehicle while Elon is on SNL. He is treating the cybertruck like a concept vehicle.

    The new company truck?

  19. Rick Kay

    June 22, 2021 at 10:21 pm

0:36 shows math isnt c|nets strong point. And comparing the cubertrucks durability to the lightning’s weight scale is borderline short bus idiocy. Then again driving across the road tends to be very wet when its sunny.

  20. Stephen De La Rosa

    June 22, 2021 at 10:40 pm

Isn’t the $40k base model F150 Lightening only for fleets and not for consumers?

  21. Dane Reid

    June 22, 2021 at 11:06 pm

I don’t drive a truck but i would prefer the Ford. Ford knows how to make trucks from a to z. Not just a to c. Look at the interior of the Ford. It’s someplace you actually want to sit and drive in. The indestructible exterior and the range of the cyber truck is appealing but not enough

  24. Cory Ducey

    June 23, 2021 at 12:15 am

That’s some funny math there… How can $70K be a “little higher” than $90K again?

  25. Reed Reedly

    June 23, 2021 at 1:13 am

The Tesla looks like the futuristic concept car that never gets produced because it looks stupid. It’s trying too hard to be overtly futuristic. The Ford looks like a normally progressed truck. Not enough performance difference to make me want to be seen in that angular nightmare Musk spawned.

  29. Michael Kelley

Go ahead, just try to order an F150 for under $40k from a Ford dealer! Not. A. Chance. A pre-order is not a guarantee of anything from Ford, not even a truck. Go to Ford lightening website and read fine print. This comparison is in almost no way a comparison on price as Ford doesn’t sell you a truck, the dealers do.

I honestly hope they’ll up the number of motors for the CT… minimum 2, mid trim 3, and like the Rivian, top trim will get 4 motors 🤘🤩

  38. Amos Soma

    June 23, 2021 at 10:53 am

There is even a bigger difference. Ford knows how to build a truck and Tesla is still trying to learn how to build cars.

    • Trisfaleel

      June 23, 2021 at 6:54 pm

      Trucks aren’t technically cars.

  39. Peter Helander

    June 23, 2021 at 1:21 pm

Don’t get how this is even a question. TESLA IS SUPER-SUPERIOR in all areas, all specs that matter, all performance: Longer range, price, safer, stronger, more features/functionality/Tonnau cover with solar, OTA updates, best charging network, FSD and much more. The only thing is the new design that will not appeal to all. Outside that F150 is NOT EVEN CLOSE. SO: Faster, stronger Better 🙂 .

Anyone else get the feeling that maybe Ford gave CNET a little something under the table to “change the commentators tone” when referencing the Cybertruck?

  41. chris vanegas

    June 23, 2021 at 4:02 pm

The mid range cybertruck is comparable to the top lightning in range and specs but comes in at 20k cheaper.

  42. valleycat 6275

    June 23, 2021 at 6:27 pm

Comparing those two trucks, huh? Well 1) the Tesla is the ugliest thing on four wheels…and that includes the old 1960’s Valiants. And 2). See #1.

  46. Freddie the Fly

    June 24, 2021 at 1:22 am

70K is higher than 90K? OK, you’d be an easy mark to sell a high price vehicle to then.

I invested in Tesla back in 2015, I was very much a bear,My reasoning was simple: Tesla was trying to do what no American automaker has done so far: Develop and sell a mass-market electric vehicle. It was trying to do what no American company had done in nearly a century: Start up a new auto manufacturing business. To take it a step further, I bought 40 shares from Tesla miners, investing about $1,800 in total with part of the proceed from a 401(k) rollover. At the $908 per share price I sold at,that’s a realized profit of $35,000! It may not be a life changing money, but it’s an incredible return nonetheless,Now I am working with 3 asset Gold, Silver and Crypto all are good but crypto investment is the mother of them all, Crypto has followed this pattern for sometime now, it dips and gets everyone scared then after retesting an old resistance several times, we wake up one day to see it is bullish. This period is the perfect time to buy the dip and accumulate irrespective of the bulls being under pressure. Bitcoin moving up is inevitable and would see the price of bitcoin surpass it’s all time highs. The reversal was imminent because obviously, the bitcoin market needed a correction to gather the right momentum to give the bulls more steam and this just make it the perfect time to invest and accumulate as much as possible. I’d strongly advice any newbie/traders to buy the dip for traders who are still wondering whether to enter the market or old time traders who are Holders to seek help from not just any trader but an established trading expert with at least 89% trade accuracy. I underwent a series of trading losses I’d best not talk about before I was introduced to trading analyst Expert Mrs Raghee Horner. My contact with her has being the hallmark of this year for me,under her careful guide and her signal service I’ve been able to recover my losses and even grow my trading portfolio massively from 1.2 btc to 4.6 btc in just 5 weeks. I will advice traders especially newbies to have an orientation of trading before they get involved in it. Expert Mrs Raghee Horner makes you learn daily while you make profits with her signals .
    She can be contacted via Whats@App +1 (2 1 3) 5 6 – 6 4 9 6 7🇺🇸 for inquires into profitable trading strategy…

Everyone knows who’s going to win this battle. You can’t mess with something that’s been an American household staple for 44 years and the number one selling vehicle in that 44 years. Too many people utilize Ford trucks from big and small companies to the everyday average consumer and Ford just acquired a charging network for commercial vehicles too. GAME OVER!

Was watching this on my tv but had to switch to my phone to leave a comment. I clicked on this video because it’s by CNET, so it’s real and usually 10 out of 10 times I love their videos. But this video is so biased based on the dumbest reason, and that is foolish consistency. AKA they like the Ford because it’s “normal” or it’s what they are used to. There was no comparison, as the title mentions. Friends, Google foolish consistency and you’ll be woke!
