All I need on the iPad is full access to the file system, the macOS terminal and the ability to install apps from the web.

Just a simple word is reason you need Mac or pc. Only retired people who don’t really do anything but consume multi media can just use iPad.

Very easy to like this video 👍🏼 Great job giving a case for both and for breaking down how you use each and why.
IMO, no chance the iPad can replace the Mac. I have a Mac now and have been searching for an iPad. So there you go! More proof that a lot of users need both. Keep up the great work! 🙇🏽

As you said, “I can’t stand editing my videos on my iPad …”. (emphasis on “can’t stand”) – meaning, yes. you CAN edit videos, but it’s uncomfortable.
ex. => Move to the UK for a year’s posting and then you’ll find that you “HAVE TO” drive a car on the ‘Left-Hand-SIde” of the street; guess what(?) – I did that (for 3 years) and starting out, I “couldn’t stand” it. either-!, …but, guess what(?), you get use to it, too. Everyone else does. – I own an iPad Pro ‘and’ a M1 MacBook Air, honestly I now wish I hadn’t bought the MacBook,
…the iPad, like the “little chu-chu-train”, cαη δο it, …and, so can you. {8~)

I’d rather choose a MacBook Air, of an affordable price, over an iPad because I’m more of a laptop person.

The iPad Pro with a Magic Keyboard and a Apple Pencil does everything I need for my personal life and business. I’m glad they will finally be allowing full monitor support. This will be great for my art projects. It is becoming more and more like a laptop.

But it has always been possible to connect iPads to any monitor.

its all about the $$. Apple will never put Mac OS on Ipad reason being most people buy both! and this is the reason why apple will not put a touch screen on a macbook.

Honestly I think you would get a better bang for your buck building a windows PC and getting an Ipad. that way you can spend the same as getting a just a macbook or apple PC of some kind but not be stuck in just one ecosystem. (as long as you buy a third party bluetooth keyboard for your ipad apples accessories are way to overpriced)

Personally, I use an iPad for media consumption and a MacBook for media creation. The portability of the iPad is great for watching YouTube while doing things around the house or resting in my chair. The larger screen and ability to connect a monitor and use real peripherals is great for getting some real work done.

Never! Apple is a money making company and they really don’t care for anything else apart from profit. If they will make 2 devices closer it means 1 less device sold hence loss to the company. We have to live with either both devices or just watching these videos comparing iPad with Macs. P.S. Mac is a must for file management like the lady said. God bless all

I own both but the iPad still cannot replace the Mac unless iOS allows extensions to be installed on Chrome, Firefox browsers.

Also, file management and multi-tasking are still far better in MacOS over iOS.

The iPad has a really awful excuse for a file system so until it gets big boy/girl pants it’s never going to be viable alternate to a Mac or PC

Ipad will never be macbook/pc replace (for most power user) in the foreseeable future, not because of the hardware nor the software but because apple simply doesnt want to. Every apple decision, every product or even how they priced their products, they sophisticatedly planned it in way to compromise the user. The Ipad specifically the pro model becoming a macbook replacement will eat the macbook market. Basically, it will now compete directly with their own products so instead buying two products (laptop and tablet), most people probably will lean towards the ipad pro. It is bad for their business. Apple will never listen to its users, because apple believe their users are idiots and like to be spoon fed.

And people say iPads the best , when Samsung tablets don’t get enough attention – when they do more functional real world work

  26. GamingwarzLA

    November 9, 2022 at 8:15 pm

Real professionals use Microsoft and that’s facts Jack … apple users hate to hear that …
If you want a real tablet that does it all – get a surface pro or Samsung s8 ultra tablet

I really wish these reviewers would stop asking for iPad OS to be merged with MacOS. They are two different OS for two different audiences. Everyone don’t do video edits, coding, etc. There’s are enough businesses out there that demonstrates that iPad OS is enough for most businesses out here. The only thing that I would want for iPad is a better file management. Other than that, leave the iPad for people who can get their work done on it (or for whatever their use case scenario is). For everyone else that needs the extra to get their work done, get a Mac. Apple shouldn’t have to complicate the iPad experience because a vocal minority wants a full fledge OS on it.

Apple is a publicly traded company that answers to their shareholders. They’re not stupid to allow iPads running MacOS to cannibalize their Macbook sales.

Economies of scale is the sole reason why iPads have the M1/M2.

  29. Gary Whitney

    November 10, 2022 at 10:13 am

If Apple made the ipad more macos capable then people would stop buying one of these products which wouldn’t help Apple profits.
