Not just the media. Big tech, big pharma, govt misleaders, etc. Verifying the truth is often a difficult & questionable task.
The truth is that Google regularly censors all kinds of free speech that isn’t consistent with their woke values & that is against the false narratives they they want to promote. From what I hear, FB also does the same thing, although, I stopped using FB years ago, due to their info harvesting & profiling–which should legally be a violation of everyone’s privacy.

BG should know that free speech, censorship, & deception/fraud via individual/group misleading/gaslighting/defrauding/inciting of people about what the ‘truth” is are not the same things. He should also know that all information must be evaluated by the audience that receives it. Who does he think should be the central evaluator & teller of all people what the ‘truth’ is??
I certainly don’t want to be dependent on big tech, big media, big pharma, or the govt. So who then can be trusted with ‘the truth’ & what shall we require of them in terms of verifiable & definitive evidence & sound reasoning?? And who will be responsible for ensuring that group doesn’t use software to deceive people at large?? Or even worse, breadcrumb people with tidbits of info to mislead/exploit them & then later fill in or dishonestly ‘correct’ the omitted info or completely omit it after they have exploited people as they choose to do.
The burden of proof/persuasion is on the originator of the claims/assumptions/beliefs/opinions. They have the responsibility to fully explain why they claim/assume/believe/opine on anything that truly matters to humanity.
In a world in which all pics, video, & audio can now be faked very well by software, the only way to verify certain things are real is for such claims to be verified in person whenever possible. Trusting big tech or big media or big pharma or political misleaders is a very questionable practice for anyone to follow.

Very slippery slope. I disagree with Mr. Gates here. I don’t want the government being the arbiter of who is allowed to have a voice. You don’t punish and regulate all people because of a few bad actors. That’s a very authoritarian view of handling freedom and rights.
