Couldn’t you just buy a car battery, hook an inverter onto it, and have similar capacities for a lot less money?

    • David McCarthy

      June 22, 2022 at 10:30 pm

Depends on the need. About 600Wh for a typical 12v car battery. Plus the cost of a quality inverter. These have some extra connections, more convenient, less bulk than a DIY, and are designed for it. Frequent use and camping I would rather have one of these, of whichever capacity was needed.

the Anker 757 HAS A FATAL FLAW! when using for a backup if the outage is long enough and the battery is drained and the unit shuts down it will not restart on it’s own when power is restored. you must be there to press a button to restart. BIG PROBLEM if you use this in a place your not, like a weekend cabin. i hate mine! Amazon will not take it back now it’s just an expensive toy i cannot trust my food to it.

@Bill2011 : i have no way of comparing. i have not tested the bluetti. the point of my post is to warn of a problem with the Anker to anyone who might be thinking of buying one.

My problem with any of these is if you’re not using them, store them, and have a emergency down the road where you need power… 1. Will they still hsve a charge? 2. How long is their overall life span? Better last for some of the prices they’re charging… I’d hope…

  17. jnotna

    June 23, 2022 at 2:25 am

Why was Goal Zero overlooked? One of the first and most available brands on the market. It doesn’t appear to have been included in the testing at all.

    • Huy Tran

old tech that is overpriced. they don’t have a LiFePO4 option. they still sell lead acid

So what’s the difference between a ups and a power station? Google was less than helpful. Ups systems are way way cheaper.

    • P troit

      June 24, 2022 at 4:30 am

From my limited research on this some time ago, I think power station refers to all of these systems being battery powered stations. Whereas some may have a UPS (uninterrupted power supply) feature. AFAIK, the Bluetti’s listed here don’t have UPS. They have a much more expensive model that does, but it isn’t shown here.

  20. Jason Broom

    June 23, 2022 at 9:39 am

You lost a lot of credibility with “Blue-Tee”. It’s pronounced “Blue Etti”. Otherwise a decent review of just a small handful of the options out there.

The chemistry you were trying to reference is “Lithium IRON Phosphate” battery, as opposed to the older lithium-NMC, or nickel, manganese cobalt oxide chemistry.

Did you research this at all? If anyone would like actual reviews of these power stations, with correct data AND pronunciations, consider DIY Solar Power with Will Prowse or Hobotech. Both know what they’re talking about and have been in this space for years, not the 2.3 hours CNET seems to have put into making this video.

    June 23, 2022 at 12:18 pm

I went with the bluetti 70S, a little more than the 50s but has more capacity and a 800 watt inverter with 1400 surge.

  22. Starliquid

    June 23, 2022 at 12:49 pm

The ecoflow does charge really fast I must say.

  23. aj

    June 23, 2022 at 1:06 pm

It’s pronounced blue etti, like eddy but with t’s

  24. Mark Kurtz

    June 23, 2022 at 2:58 pm

I would say that Bluetti power stations should not be on this list. They charge slow and breakdown easily.

The best thing about the Wave is that I can use my Delta Max to charge it even when I am off grid and use it.

Aint this the guy from Mothers Basement?

  27. rgbii

    June 24, 2022 at 8:20 pm

Oops – a 1100Wh unit will run a 110w device about 8 hours, not 10. All of these lose about 20% due to the inverter. Some are better than others, and it can also depend on the type of device(s) you are running, but unless you’ve tested it yourself or seen it tested, assume about 20%. Take the Wh * 0.8 to get roughly what the usable Wh are. In this case, 1100 * 0.8 = 880.

  28. Rashad Glover

    June 24, 2022 at 11:39 pm

I grabbed the EB3A for testing. I’ll just it as ups and a emergency cell charger.

  29. Armenian

    June 25, 2022 at 10:12 pm

If you would have done a long term test on the bluetti’s you would see that they are unreliable trash.

  30. Civil Repair

    June 27, 2022 at 1:32 pm

Did you mean Bluetti pronounced bloo-wetty? In the streets that’s what we call it.

The ecoflow delta pro system just seems like the best of the best of the best. everything about it seems amazing except the price. you could have over 10kWh of battery backup plus their smart gasoline generator plus it can hook up to solar panels. the whole system could cost you well over 10 grand but it’s so cool and I want it.
