Cnet can’t make any video without made reference to Apple, this is sad…

It’s because apple dominate the US which is obviously CNET’s target audience. They have to talk about apple although I don’t like the apple obsession myself

Are people getting laptops for the holidays?! The biggest gift I got last year was a $25 Lego set.

    Edit: No, I’m not a kid. I’m 36. Ok, yeah maybe I am still a kid though…

My wife and I are getting my father in law a laptop ($500 HP Pavilion), which will likely be shared with his wife. I would never get a laptop for a random friend but I’m happy to spend a decent amount of money on a practical gift for my in laws, especially since they desperately need a new computer

      November 22, 2022 at 4:36 pm

@whenhen is father in law a gamer?

    • whenhen

      November 22, 2022 at 4:40 pm

@Cheddar323 Nope. Just a guy who wants to be able to apply for jobs, take training classes, browse the web, and video call with his family. His wife needs to learn Excel as well, so a Chromebook was not something I looked at.

@whenhen oh okay sounds like it will he fairly easy to find a laptop for their preference. It’s much harder to get something when someone wants the laptop for gaming.

Would it kill you to get a host who doesn’t have a lishp

Would it kill you to actually focus on the damn video rather than the host’s minor speech impediment?

This should have been titled, my favourite laptops to buy in 2022. I know it’s a subjective matter but there’s definitely some better laptops for the prices he mentioned.

Overall I’d give this video a 6.6 out of 10

The Acer Chromebook Spin 714 … Just why. Runs Chrome OS and you may as well get a surface pro

If you´re embarrassed about pulling your laptop out at a coffee shop 1) find a better coffee shop 2) seek mental health counseling for your vanity. Also, using a chromebook (android device) doesn´t work effectively for students using online textbooks from certain huge textbook companies. Also, students use their laptops 24/7 to run verry inefficient LMS and elearning software so don´t assume a wimpy chromebook is at all adequate–it is not. One needs a fairly large screen as the ´cram-ware´ web apps waste a lot of screen real estate due to the browser-web UIs

laptop as a gift, extremely bad idea, what happens if the laptop doesnt fulfill the users requirement. There is so many variables on it.

I wouldnt consider 750-1k budget friendly. Acer line of laptops offer great value for around $500

A Chromebook is NOT a laptop, it’s a Chromebook. I consider a laptop, like most of the world, to have a file browser and the ability to install programs. If I can’t run this program or utility, game, etc, it’s a Chromebook or tablet.

A Surface Pro is a much better option, but it’s a Windows tablet. A Surface Laptop Go 2 is a budget Windows tablet.

I would like to see a better breakdown of devices. For example, these are good for kids. These models are good for your parents or grandparents. This model is good if you want to do some photo or video editing. You get the idea.
