Of all the phones in this review, 4 of these are not officially available in my country, the Philippines 🇵🇭: Pixel 6A, Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, and the Sony Xperia Pro. But the Nothing Phone (1) is available officially.

I tried it, it’s so small even unfolded. It’s not even a real tablet replacement.

Nice overall recommendations, but it feels somewhat unfair to exclude xiao mi, oppo, & vivo flagships, if nothing phone was included..

Sony Xperia phones. Still headphone jack and micro SD card support. Isn’t that why we got Android in the first place. Options!!!

As a small phone fan, i have the s22. I run 60 hz and it allows me to get all day battery life. Everything you said was pretty much spot on. I also have the 6a.

S22+ has a horrible battery life; crazy to go from daily driving a 14 Pro Max whose battery barely moves to using my S22+ on vacation and just watching it drain the moment I wake up. Not a bad phone but for $1k, I could’ve just gotten a 14 Pro. Maybe I’ll go S23U for my next Android phone but I don’t want two top of the line phones. Pixel burned me after using their horrid Pixel 6 Pro, so I wouldn’t touch them for a while.

Why show the iPhone 14 Pro if this is only for the Best Android Phone of the Year? Is it because even the 2-year-old iPhone 12 outsold Samsung’s S22 Ultra, or because Google’s worried over even more Android users switching to iPhones instead of buying Android phones saying Nothing? 😁🎤

Feels bad to be a US customer. Feels like you only get to choose from Samsung, Google and OnePlus when it comes to Android. Limited choice

    • Shellyman Studios

      December 8, 2022 at 2:20 am

Exactly, I made a comment that is similar to yours. HTC gone, LG gone. OnePlus is falling off, Motorola has fallen off. You’re stuck with Pixels or the Galaxies. No wonder iOS is becoming more dominant in the North America market.

It’s sad how Android isn’t a choice heaving like it used to be. Back in the day, you had Motorola, HTC, and LG. Motorola pretty much fell off so did OnePlus, HTC barely alive and LG mobile division is dead. Sony pricing their phones ridiculously high. You’re pretty much stuck with Pixel or the Galaxies, the rest are the Chinese brands. I’m talking about the Western market POV.

    • Arib Anwar

      December 8, 2022 at 8:00 pm

Well, Motorola is coming back steadily with some good mid range phones and a clean UI. It’s true these days it’s just either Google or Samsooong in the flagship would love to see more devices without bloatware

  27. David Tuttle

    December 8, 2022 at 2:43 am

If you want a good compact phone get an ASUS Zenfone. You’ll pay less than an S22 and get a headphone jack and dual SIM support.

the best Android phones in 2022….. if you happen to be a multimillionaire
    .
I would recommend the Nokia G21,, 4G,,$120,, two OS updates, three years of security patches
4/64 GB,, NFC,, 90Hz, two sim slots & micro SD,, fingerprint sensor ( used for two factor authentication )

The s22 plus is the most balanced model, in my opinion. But, Samsung has a lot of room to improve it in the s23 line. A little more battery, more megapixels on the front camera and, please, a fast charger.

  41. murcielago Batman

    December 8, 2022 at 6:05 pm

Lol half video can be cut down to just get s22 or pixel

  42. Kendre Lewis

    December 8, 2022 at 6:13 pm

This looks like a ad for samsung and pixel. I can tell neither one of y’all picked the OnePlus 10 Pro back up after y’all reviewed it 10 months ago. The camera is better on the 10 Pro than the Pixel 7 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro/Pro max and the s22u. It’s a shame how y’all make videos off old data instead of retesting the devices you’re claiming is good. OnePlus is winning in every category camera, display, fast charging, battery life feel in hand and software.

I dislike the Samsung design. Its plain and has no character. Samsung should up its design game. I mean iphones are distinctive and good looking imo.

The holidays before the new year.

Best Android phone I bought was the Galaxy S2 10 years ago: I felt I received incredible value; something mind blowingly good; amazing display and screen size; fantastic battery life; great camera … it was the bees knees (younger bees that is – everybody knows older bees have bad knees🤔). You just can’t get that feel for a new smartphone anymore. And the S3 and S4 made me realize that spec was well outstripping battery capability just to sell new phones a long time ago. As such, just hearing S22 sounds like laughing at Rocky 38 in Airplane to me! Time to change the naming convention me thinks.
