Thanks John, however I would like to ask I’m sure you had time using Sony WH1000XM5 with Spatial audio how did it show up on the iPhone was it through Sony Center app or Apple settings?

    July 19, 2023 at 11:57 am

In short, this thing is not at the level of the Sony XM5 and Bose NC 700, but it will sell 10-20 times more thanks to its logo 🤦🏽‍♂️

When I tried beats way back 2012 after that experience I don’t wanna buy them again because they really look and feel cheap and not worth the price.

Wow, I haven’t seen the packaging for beats since I bought my pair back when they were originally with monster. What a horrible unboxing experience for a pair of $350 headphones. At least let the experience of opening them for the first time feel premium

As an industrial designer I was hoping for a redesign even if we are using the graphic design mode of keeping the classic design “Coca-Cola like “ the headband itself needs an update it’s failsafe point is the hinge.. it is a clean design but the hinges on the headband could have been rethought or engineered to create a better connection and even improved fitment even if we kept the band design 90§ the same and updated the materials

Good on CNET for still keeping a professional approach to tech reviews. Concise.

Really they did improve the durability. Back when working for apple, always had customers coming back with headband and hinge durability issues

    So over-priced, as usual

Hey CNET … what was with their odd choice of the word “Fire” & “Firestick”? What was the etymology of that?

I see they went for a similiar package to sony xm5’s

I don’t care how good they are I wouldn’t want to associate myself with the type of people I see wearing Beats headphones.
Looking at you broke zoomers crawling out of your parents basements dressed like a clown just to walk around without a purpose.

Beats area trash. We need stop hyping up this trash product.

Has anyone here ever tried Sony XM model? eats alive the beats EVERY SINGLE TIME.

I thought since Apple owns beats they would bring the starlight and midnight color choices from the iPhone 13 and 14

Beats being an Apple brand technically, them not adding and including the H2 chip is such a missed opportunity… I would have loved to have all of the iOS goodies, like instant switching and automatically paired and sync (I dont know about yall but for me it is such a reliable feature that it is already paired to all of your devices) it is probably a cost reduction to not include an Apple processor but it would have been so nice.. having a dedicated processor for Android and one for iOS users would probably add up to the expense,, but to be honest, if it were to be priced at $399 just because it has an Apple chip, I would definitely buy it..

Apple destroyed Beats. Beats was about Dr Dre and what that meant. Now it’s just a failing brand without any identity. You never hear Dr Dre talking about Beats headsets.

Curious if the reason why the headphones use a “custom chip” instead of Apple’s H2 is for the accommodation of the Android features. Although, I’ve used my Powerbeats (2020) on both platforms and everything works fine after having to manually pair on Android

oh i LOVE that it has the same design as before !

  30. mib

Beat’s design seems to be almost apple-like stubborn (wonder why), but it’ll be interesting to watch them evolve from here! unless they go full apple and don’t change anything major for another 10 models.

  31. denny

    July 20, 2023 at 3:48 am

I’m surprised people still give a damn about Beats, knowing you pretty much pay for the fancy b. Thanks for getting one so I don’t have to!

  38. Striker 50

Would NOT buy. Simply for the fact they’re using a 10-year design.

  39. razer boy

    July 20, 2023 at 1:01 pm

They should have changed the design so you can tell it’s a different headphone from the old studios.

  40. Tucker Weinmann

    July 20, 2023 at 1:46 pm

I love that they added direct wired lossless audio capability.
