In EU the price between SE 40mm and 8 40mm is abt eur 200 which is huge.

Have the last SE and love it. Looking to buy another, although the 7 is in or around that bracket. So I’m still thinking about it!

I don’t like the SE, defeats the purpose of getting a “smart” watch, it’s like u buying half of an actual Apple Watch

I’m upgrading from the first apple watch ever created that i have had for 6 years. My new SE is coming in tomorrow. It’s going to feel like a big upgrade i’m sure.

I’ve got the first SE and I was thinking about upgrading to the se2 but by the sound of it there’s no point

  9. Ruben Fuentes Jr.

    September 15, 2022 at 6:26 pm

All ways on display is by far the best upgrade for the watch if you are coming from the SE/S4 or below.

keyboard, always on display ,ekg and faster charging are on series 7…se2 has new procesor and car crash detector. check the price and choose. I would go with 7

Still debating between the SE and the 8 as my first smart watch. Is the always on display that big of a deal? Is there a major delay in the Watch turning on when you turn it over?

    • Cryptomania

      September 15, 2022 at 11:02 pm

Get the 8 if you can. It has more features and not just the sensors

    • Adam

      September 15, 2022 at 11:06 pm

      @Cryptomania such as?

    • Cryptomania

      September 15, 2022 at 11:06 pm

@Adam bigger display, faster charging, always on display, keyboard for typing.

    • Adam

      September 15, 2022 at 11:13 pm

@Cryptomania that’s fair. But for me personally (as a watch nerd) 39mm is my preferred size and I don’t desire the bigger display. So the 41 SE should be fine. And the speed of the two watches seem to be the same

    • Cryptomania

      September 15, 2022 at 11:16 pm

@Adam the SE and series 8 smallest versions are the same size it’s just the SE has thicker bezel resulting to a smaller display

      September 16, 2022 at 1:53 am

@FiatLux Well said: know your needs before buying tech.

    • Racineur R.

      September 16, 2022 at 1:54 am

What would be a major delay? One second would be a major delay? C’mon. A little second in your zillions of zillions second in your life.

    • Racineur R.

      September 16, 2022 at 1:57 am

@Cryptomania So what? Do you get twice the display or even a quarter or eighth of larger display with the 8? I think it’s time to reevaluate our appreciation of time and sizes.

In my opinion Always on display its a overpaid feature, you dont gonna use that much as you think, otherwise SE its the affordable watch for those that want a balanced apple watch.

  19. ridgero

    September 15, 2022 at 9:31 pm

Buy a used Series 7 and dismiss the SE

  20. Antonio Torres

    September 15, 2022 at 11:00 pm

So those who bought an Applewatch series 3 this year got screwed over completely.

  21. Cryptomania

    September 15, 2022 at 11:06 pm

Get the Series 7 instead before they ran out. They are like $300-350 and you get a much better display and faster charginf

  24. Julian

    September 16, 2022 at 1:24 am

Apple should add blood oxygen (SpO2) for this new SE 2022 instead of having that feature mainly for their flagship series watches. Even other cheaper bands or watches have included SpO2 function inside it.

  25. 😎mid

    September 16, 2022 at 1:27 am

They should have applied the tempriture sensor to it.

  26. Racineur R.

    September 16, 2022 at 1:48 am

Nitpicking. Nothing else. I hav the SE2 and couldn’t be happier. One should stop wanting bells and whistles on an entry level product when all those bells and whistles are available on the upper model. Never understood why people mix things up like that. A SE is not a Series 8. Period. You’re doing this video for the only purpose of nitpicking. Do you really think buyers of the SE are secretly after the 8 and are so “poor” that they canot afford the 8. Worst video I’ve watched from CNET.

    • cherry pop

      September 16, 2022 at 3:32 am

How do you have the SE2 when it doesn’t come out until tomorrow?

  27. CIG Xhang

    September 16, 2022 at 4:03 am

2:35 I thought you were gonna mention that the only downside is that it’s pLaSTic

    • CIG Xhang

      September 16, 2022 at 4:07 am

And it really bothers me if the old se’s ceramics finish significantly outlast or is much more sturdy than the new version’s plastic finish, under normal and work out situations. I would resent Apple if they make the se cheaper by reducing its “longevity”

  28. Joules

    September 16, 2022 at 4:18 am

@0.43 you forgot those people who simply wants to tell time 😊

  29. Kenny Kwan

    September 16, 2022 at 4:43 am

I’m wondering why Apple would add the always on display to the SE? It just wouldn’t make sense from a business perspective.

    • Skilled Enough

      September 16, 2022 at 6:40 am

Kinda does make sense. Businesses strive for profit above all else. Take away always on display and it’ll add more incentive for people to spend the extra $150 for the AW 8.

Exactly! That’s why I’ll not opt for it, AOD doesn’t matter.

  31. liquidmojo

    September 16, 2022 at 5:24 am

I agree with the sentiment expressed in the video. IMHO, the always on display is clutch and it is what is critically missing with both the AW the SE1 and SE2. I’d easily recommend a used or refurbished AW6 or even an AW5 to get the alway on display over the SE.

If you need to extend the battery life for the day, you can disable the feature or go into low power mode, but just being able to look at the time at a glance instead of doing a wrist raise gesture makes it function better and duplicates a regular watch function better.

Given the AW4-6 has an almost identical cases and screen sizes to the 2 SE models, the always on feature could have been included on the second iteration of the SE, and for that reason I’m always hesitant to recommend an SE model without clearly stating to the potential buyer that it’s a feature that will feel missed if they had a chance to use, and get used to one with or without the always on.

If cost is an issue, buyers can potentially get an AW5 with better case material such as stainless steel over aluminum for similar or even less money but still have that always on display.

  32. Skit Central

    September 16, 2022 at 8:46 am

I’m planning on getting that or the series 8. Time will tell.

  33. Kirk Bickley

    September 16, 2022 at 11:21 am

Seems the Apple Watch Series 7 is still the best watch to buy value for money if you can get it at a good discounted price now.

I like it, and I’m a first time Watch user. I’m retired, and I’m not an enthusiastic fitness person. I walk plenty, so I’m happy enough that it monitors my heart rate. I don’t like the larger bezel, so this size is perfect for me. The colors of the watchband were more available than the 8, so that was also a selling point for me. Only downside for me (I agree) not having the always on display.. Wish I at lease had the option, but seriously–who cares? It saves money! I don’t mind that, and maybe having it on all the time can get a little old. The Apple Watch SE for me is…perfect.
