“And boy have we patented it”

Patents are a broken system, but it’s crazy that Apple has abused it so much in the past and now has fallen victim to it.

    • @AaronFigFruit

Not necessarily true. Apple, Google etc faces hundreds of legal actions like this every year. Patent system is not that flexible. Physics is the same for everyone. Sometimes some techniques or mechanism are just similar in nature, and there are plenty of things that are not supposed to be patented, but they are somehow. Until we have a more in depth analysis from an expert, we don’t know for sure. And even if the patent it’s different from the technology used, the court can still ruled against it, there has been plenty of precedents. Some companies are called patent trolls for a reason.

Omg. Now I understand why apple didn’t beat Microsoft in getting the first AI model. They’d rather steal it, reverse engineer it, than buy it. Imagine how many app developers have suffered the same fate as Masimo. I’ve often wondered why apple is always last to try something. Now I know. They steal and try to reverse engineer everything then relabel it as some new apple break through. They’re close to 3 trillion in evaluation. I mean a few billion for breath through tech like ChatGPT would have put this company so far ahead of Microsoft it might be in bankruptcy today. But instead the ladder. This very well May be the first nail in the coffin for apple and how they “so call approach” innovation.
