@videogaminglmao He has said multiple times he has a bigger focus on AR and mixed reality and doesn’t believe in people living in a virtual world for hours. Talked about apple combining tech with the world we live in and not creating a new world.

@OfficialDamp doesnt matter what he says, apple is making a product that can be used on metaverse

It would be hilarious if Apple beat Facebook on building the metaverse

Edit: It would actually be petty if Apple flipped their whole strategy to put a nail in Facebooks coffin

    • Mihnea Munteanu

they’re absolutely going to beat Facebook. Facebook has minimal HW background. Apple is the pioneer of so many user experiences to mass market. This is an interface problem. My bet is fully on Apple.

Even if apple cracked metaverse, it will not be a threat to meta. Apple is for premium users. Most people cannot afford Apple products. So there will be a big chunk of market for meta. Competition is always good for consumers

    • videogaminglmao

      May 20, 2022 at 12:23 am

@Inter Pol i dont dream, apples valuation has come down and the 90billion sharebuyback+ huge cash flows will pump the stock higher and higher. Bears will cry about the market cap in future because apple will be worth over 10trillion. They can do that just by buying tons of own stock!

    • videogaminglmao

      May 20, 2022 at 12:24 am

@OfficialDamp apple microsoft are safest and probably best companies. The amount of FCF these giants make will every year push the stock higher. Look at those sharebuybacks!

Apple is very late to the game . Meta is already dominating the VR market.

    • OfficialDamp

      May 20, 2022 at 6:41 am

“The game” has only really existed for 3 years… Meta is dominating market share and will continue to do so, Apples estimated price is too high. However late to the game is far from true.

The VR/AR market is only worth about 20 billion atm estimated to grow to 180-200 in the coming years.

    • migero

      May 20, 2022 at 9:34 am

      meta is dead

    • Cake Batter

      May 20, 2022 at 10:58 am

The VR marketplace is miniscule. Meta is the big fish in a tiny pond.

It is not late. AR/VR industry for customers is just getting started

It will not replace the iPhone. Who will walk around with a headset?? Lol Neither will apple glass.

    • Exultant Alpaca

      May 20, 2022 at 12:49 am

Once AR tech gets good enough to the point that it’s inconspicuous as a pair of regular glasses, there’s no reason it wouldn’t replace the iPhone. People will be able to do all the same things without carrying around a slab in their pocket

    • OfficialDamp

      May 20, 2022 at 6:42 am

It’s not meant to replace the iPhone… (anytime soon) the apple glasses (not the headset) are meant to pair with iPhone and use it’s compute. You don’t walk around with the headset you use it at home. The glasses is what you use in the open, and if you don’t think people will walk around with apple glasses you are crazy.

I don’t think Apple will beat Meta and Microsoft in the XR realm. The most difficult issue will be developers who are largely in the realms of Meta and Microsoft at the moment. They are largely using Windows. I feel like Apple is definitely too late to the game.

    • YT Weng

      May 22, 2022 at 2:18 pm

The Microsoft’s product targeted companies and researchers (to B). I believe Apple would make AR/VR accessible for customers.

    • Jazil Zaim

      May 22, 2022 at 9:04 pm

@YT Weng Sorry I should have added more clarity on this. I meant that Microsoft’s Windows platform is a huge moat for VR content. Then we have Meta with their VR stuff. Both Microsoft and Meta have a huge trove of developers building on their platforms. So Apple will have to struggle to convince theses developers to go for a device with a low market share.

  17. Marcus Briseno

    May 22, 2022 at 5:02 pm

They can show this ar/VR headset because they have left China’s economy and Russia, which means they have more income to work on it. I know coming back to America was Apple’s best bet on themselves.

  18. YT Weng

    May 23, 2022 at 12:25 am

Which engine will developers use, Unity or Apple’s made their own 3D editor?
