The M1 doesn’t “lose” 2 usb c ports, the $1299 models never came with 4.

There is already a version of windows 10 for arm sir…

When you realize a surface laptop go is $899 for a 8gb 256ssd, it makes the MacBook Air look like a really good deal at $999

Most of the first-gen mac curses were tied to intel. Now intel is gone with its greedy incompetent leadership, hopefully, Apple’s first-gen-curse is gone.

Will all programs and software work with the new chip? For example, DJ or music production like ableton?

Finally someone talking about app support!! Seemed like everyone was ignoring this big issue. This is exactly why Microsoft lost millions trying to sell arm devices

So… only certified software will get optimized for “slight” improvement over x86.

Any *3rd party software* like 3D CAD will be in an endless cue.

    November 12, 2020 at 11:33 pm

Why because many people have icloud. I and many people I know rarely use the USB-C ports. How many people use more than three ports at the same time. Come on, you think Apple don’t do their homework before re-designing their hardware.?

Basically the 13” MBP making room for the 14” next year which will have mini-leds, new webcams, Face ID, M2 perhaps and thinner bezels but it will be more expensive.

Rosetta has been around for 20 years. Maybe it’s not yet reliable?

    Performance? On… die… ram. Maybe that’s understated. ON… DIE… RAM! TL;DR, it’ll be fast.

So you’re a bit wrong here on the MacBook Pro and the ports. Apple sells essentially two tiers of the MacBook Pro 13 inch: one with two usb c ports and one with 4. Apple replaced the two usb c port version with this M1 version. You can still buy the 4 usb c version that has Intel on Apple’s website.

Put an order into work for 16” MacBook Pro and updated the order to say I’d be happy to take the 13” apple sillicon version and save then company £660. IT came back and said they won’t support the new hardware for 6 months as Adobe and Microsoft aren’t ready for it yet.

Everyones arguing about the 2 thunderbolt ports, Apple’s m1 chip doesn’t physically support 4 thunderbolt ports lol…. neither does it support egpus. They’ll have to completely redesign it later on for more support

  45. Shaner The Grey

    November 13, 2020 at 11:02 pm

Parallels is already about to release a version native to M1. So your virtualization argument is null and void.

Out of the hundreds of first generation products Apple has ever released in its history, three of them had issues so he tells us to wait. -_-“

  52. procekim

    November 14, 2020 at 4:06 pm

Why you should wait, to watch CNET videos. 1-this is the first one about M1, 2- CNets first video sucks, 3 Cnet sucks

  54. Nicco Simone

    November 14, 2020 at 4:23 pm

I stopped the video right at #1. Apple had over a decade in SoC experience. This is not a first gen product in the classical sense.

  55. Benjamin Batchelor

    November 14, 2020 at 4:45 pm

This video did nothing for me, My MBP 15 Struggles so much with logic pro and having multiple tracks playing. I would LOVE not to see that “System Overload” message ever again, Mac mini for me as i already have a gaming PC with a 32 inch monitor and all the peripherals….

  56. P T

    November 14, 2020 at 5:01 pm

Rumor has it that just minutes before the presentation, Apple was scrambling to label their X and Y axis.

  57. Luominen R

    November 14, 2020 at 6:03 pm

When this weren’t a thing everyone said to wait for them. Now that they’re out they say to wait for the next ones, wait wait and wait. If it’s what you want and you’ve got the money just buy it.

  58. Shen Yip

    November 14, 2020 at 6:35 pm

No one cares about 4TB of storage upgrade. With the 4TB upgrade price, you can get a second Macbook or a 5 bay HDD enclosure with 80TB of storage.

  59. Oliver Queen

    November 14, 2020 at 7:08 pm

You can turn Mac into a window? I didn’t know that

  60. Fernando Chinos

    November 14, 2020 at 7:45 pm

At this point apple could’ve released a 14 inch MBP instead of adding bunch of upgrades

  61. Marky Mark

Couldn’t wait. I think it’s worth the risk.

  64. Dark Angel

    November 14, 2020 at 9:12 pm

I agree we better wait. Apple, whyyyy max 16 GB memory????? I need 64 GB!!!!

  65. Mighty Murph

    November 14, 2020 at 9:26 pm

I think apple has been doing this long enough to get a first gen right.
They just released their first 5g phones with very little access to 5g out here. However, that doesnt mean that it wont work wonders for those new to apple, or upgrading from an older model.
Lets save the “Dont buy” vids for after the products release and can speak for themselves

    • Mighty Murph

      November 14, 2020 at 9:30 pm

Still a great vid though 👍🏾

  66. Jared Schwager

    November 14, 2020 at 10:04 pm

Come on CNET. Apple had both 2-port and 4-port versions of the Intel MacBook Pro. They only updated the 2-port variant with the M1 chip and you can still purchase the 4-port version today just with an Intel CPU.

  67. Harrysound

    November 14, 2020 at 10:42 pm

What is it with the Apple mouse….why is it so horrible and not addressed

  68. Harrysound

  70. Duncan

    November 14, 2020 at 11:31 pm

Click bait! Apple silicon has been used in iPhones and iPad for years and has worked almost seemlessly, my iPhone is my favourite most user friendly device I own. So why wouldnt I want that on my laptop?

  71. jack_da_niels

    November 15, 2020 at 12:19 am

Thats a beta release. Thats why they have limited ports, still the old case design, old webcam…they see how it runs in broader scale, what day to day issues are, get developers to update their apps to provide a broader scale and buy some time to make more improved chips, design, features. Just wait on the M1X or M2 and I think that will be the much better choice then.

  72. Sung K

    November 15, 2020 at 12:24 am

I agree. People should wait for next revisions of these products. Why buy beta products. No fan on MacBook Air sounds nice though.

  73. T H

    November 15, 2020 at 12:50 am

M1 is great but M2 is even greater :). So I will wait for the next upgrade while my laptop is still good.

  74. nasraidub

    November 15, 2020 at 1:27 am

Ppl who wanted the 16inch i9 mbp is really not the target market. But if u were planning to buy the intel 13″ mbp you’d be better off getting the M1 version now.
