It is not a Class 3 E-Bike when it doesn’t have a throttle.

    It is a Class 1 E-Bike.

    Edit:
Class 1 is pedal assist only up to 20 mph.

Class 2 is pedal assist and throttle up to 20 mph.

Class 3 is also pedal assist and throttle up to 28 mph.
However, throttle only is limited to 20 mph.

If it goes over 20 mph it’s class 3 by default regardless of throttle.

After doing some more research, for the most part, Class 3 ebike doesn’t have to have throttle.

With that being said, I couldn’t find anything on the Federal level about different ebike classes.

@NextNate03 I believe it’s different in each state. Some states classify 25+ as class 3. Some states don’t go by the class system at all if I’m not mistaken.

If you do plan to enjoy potholes with this, you might want to budget for a Thudbuster seatpost.

How lazy and pathetic, as well as illegal on most trails as it should be. These things are in the way, and only used by those who aren’t even close to being in shape, just lazy and selfish; so they need to continue to be banned on almost all trails. Ride it on the street where it belongs or don’t use it.
