“Next time some academics tell you how important diversity is, ask them how many Republicans are in their sociology department”

Haha! The answer is and always will be zero!
      Why?
Because as soon as you start learning and grasping the idea of Sociology, you become incapable of regressing to a conservative/republican mindset.
How do I know? Because I voted for John McCain my freshman year of college and then for Obama my senior year whilst graduating with my bachelor in Sociology/Criminal Justice 🤣

You have to find a Republican who is even moderately interested in the subject. That’s what, one and a million?

You can’t make any changes unless you last on staff.

Affirmative Action was the last remaining institutional racism in this country. Ending it was the most significant advancement for race relations in the last 50 years. DEI is a racist movement that also needs to go the way of the dodo if we want to further progress.

Want to feel like you “belong” at work and not like another cog in the machine? Easy. Join a union or better yet, join/start a worker-owned cooperative! ✊️

Most young workers don’t want to belong. They want to work at home, alone. Every job to them is a steppingstone to another job with higher pay.

    • @erikpoephoofd

      January 26, 2024 at 5:03 am

What? This is not my experience at all. How did you reach the conclusions that most young workers want to work alone?

Least obvious paid endorsement 🤣 this video coincidentally coming after news about office spaces being empty because workers prefer working from home and spending more time with their families. And rightfully so the only people being mad at this are real estate investors. Didn’t knew tedx could be this much of a sellout.

But on a serious note, the introduction was brilliant. I just wish this talk was more than about AMERICA. Ethnocentric biases are present here, given that there are two Americans talking about things like public health but only in America?

I agree that all of us women who get labelled as being geriatric a lot sooner than men get labelled that way while all who are geriatric are often get told their opinions and perceptions should mean far less to consider at the time regardless of what weight any opinion on some concerns needs to be must be questioned often instead of only leaving up all of that questioning to only MEagan and HArry from British royalty. Meagan and Harry only so people like only Pierrrs Morgan [Who may or may not be envious towards the royal family in general] one by one have a field day while gettinh to be endlessly questioning both of them about their lifestyle until kingdom come while we are being told only that is okay because he offers the most popular opinions at the time in Britain about that too. Ideal Versus Real Culture” (Bereska, Symbaluk, “Top hat sociology in action” [Italiiscized here] .A paragraph heading in Chapter 3 on page 60, 2022) could be a statement which could be supported with evidence showing that a culture of belonging does not involve only through the offerings of only sympathy along with only tokens of comfort being given there while continuing to be regarded there as being less important in the world.

we want you to feel like you belong so you work harder, longer and for less than you are worth. And in the fine print – if you dont work harder, longer and for less than you are worth – you dont belong here???????
