From Prison to Purpose Through Wildland Firefighting | Royal Ramey | TED
When wildfires rage in California, incarcerated people are often on the front lines fighting the flames. TED Fellow Royal Ramey was one of them. He shares the story of how doing public service in prison inspired him to cofound the Forestry and Fire Recruitment Program, a nonprofit helping formerly incarcerated people become wildland firefighters —…

The Recipe for a Healthy Climate Starts at the Dinner Table | Anthony Myint | TED
Why aren’t restaurants part of the climate solution? This question inspired chef Anthony Myint to go from opening buzzy pop-ups to pushing for a shift to regenerative farming practices in the food system. He explains how it didn’t go the way he expected at first — and how restaurants are now teaming up with farmers…

To End Extreme Poverty, Give Cash — Not Advice | Rory Stewart | TED
Are traditional philanthropy efforts actually taking money from the poor? Former UK Member of Parliament Rory Stewart breaks down why many global development projects waste money on programs that don’t work. He advocates for a radical reversal rooted in evidence: giving unconditional cash transfers directly to those in need, a method that could unlock the…

How about we send people involved in higher education to your country, sound fair? We seem to have too many want to destroy nations like the ones where you come from. Perhaps since everything is destroyed, they will help to build it up…

Powerful governments will never do such thing because: 1- it’s a waste of their economy & time 2- they don’t care 3- if they ever do so, it will be based on other goals and more of a community & natural resources occupation that actually leads to more refugees (like what the US did to afghanistan)

It looks like the TED talks are trolling the patriot community big time. Next TED topics: why blond women are obligated to marry out from the European community, should high IQ white men get lobotomies so that nonwhites can have a shot at high paying careers, integrating rural white communities by force or is freedom of association a terroristic dog whistle, is freedom of speech a neonazi concept, should we pay white women to get inseminated by Somali men, is Islam so bad when it comes to women’s rights, let’s give pedophilia a second look, how to hate your whiteness w/o resorting to blackface, the reparations surcharge income tax on non-minorities.

You want to start school at 17 like that woman Saida?
And your level of logic (or lack thereof) goes to show that you wouldn’t do a quarter as good as her.
You probably enjoyed a normal education started going to school at a young age and despite that you still don’t know that your path is way easier than hers.

Yeah so public unis won’t have place for their students and competition will rise while they will have an easy go to it. I personally can see it in Geneva uni, when people with low grades but from development countries just go in with no need to re-educate or extra year to go while I need to have all the high scoors to get in or get lost.

Is your university rubbish? In my university the international students pay 2 x as much and have higher grades. It is a competitive environment not just some fake uni lol.
Lol
July 11, 2020 at 11:13 am
@20320456 Kaneki excuse me Geneva uni is in top world uni and it is govermnet based not private, we pay only for books and exams and everybody in the same course pay the same, you can not pay your way in the uni. If you can pay like that to stay your uni is rubbish. So my uni participates in all thous help progect and it is rediculus to see how after 12 grades in school I can lose my place to 9 years or 10 years school programs who enter and really just get kicked out after a year for good but occupy the place for anyone with good grades who wanted to get in that year.

Although I get your point and am admitting that this is for sure a great factor for these refugees, I also have to tell you:
In the real world time is not obsolete and in most cases competency under
high time pressure is much more necessary then just competency
I know it’s sad, but that’s how the world works
