We’ve seen some comments asking if this video was sponsored by Netflix or Stranger Things. It was not! We were inspired by the upcoming release to do a video about dead malls — and so we talked about the show in the video. WIRED will ALWAYS indicate when any of our videos have been sponsored — both in an onscreen title card as well as in our description box. Thanks for all your feedback!

Boomer investors have poor imagination so they keep building malls.

There’s this great video about a dead mall that got turned into a residential space for single individuals with small rooms. It was such a great idea.

The mall I grew up going to was bulldozed and the land is being redesigned as a police station. Memphis needs it.

Funny, when I was in high school that was the mall I’d skip school at, ironically, it’s now the college I attend go figure.

Starcourt is Gwinnett Mall in Gwinnett GA. It had a dead woman in one of the food court stalls for 2 weeks during 2017 Christmas. The mall is still open but like most malls, there’s little to know business.
