Aaww.. I was hoping they’d make it interesting ( for me :p ) by being controversial and be the next “The Verge – Build a PC debacle”. I’m very disappointed Savvides .. very disappointed. 😋

    I’m good I’ll just order a prebuilt

Pre builts are often poor value and it’s easier then ever to build your own rig. When I started we just had magazine articles to go by and you had to set IRQ’s manually via dip switches to prevent hardware conflicts. Learning to build your own rig means you can better fix any issues that might crop up yourself without having to pay or rely on someone else to fix it for you.

Click on the show more under the video. It shows where they got each part.

I was hoping for a The Verge “Building a $2000 PC” type of video…
    Got disappointed! :/

Wait! WTF?!?! video shows Ryzen 5 but in your description your showing a Ryzen 3?? bait and switch??

    • Lexy Savvides

      May 27, 2020 at 1:44 am

The plan was to use the 3300x like we had in the description, but it literally arrived at my house right at the end of the build, after I’d installed the Ryzen 5! 🙂

    • Etzio Play

      May 27, 2020 at 1:50 am

@Lexy Savvides Oh ok ic is the Ryzen 5 still in the $600 budget?

in the first 30 minutes shes already done better than the verge

  12. Lexy Savvides

    May 27, 2020 at 1:47 am

Thanks for watching, everyone! Note that we actually didn’t end up installing the 3300x in this build (it got delivered too late in the stream unfortunately) but I may just go swap it out now I know what to do! 🙂

    • Lexy Savvides

      May 28, 2020 at 10:56 pm

@Niko Castro The build cost is for PC components only (the mouse, keyboard, monitor we considered separate) 🙂

    • Niko Castro

      May 28, 2020 at 11:30 pm

@Lexy Savvides That seems very misleading :/

    • Lexy Savvides

      May 29, 2020 at 12:17 am

@Niko Castro It’s actually a pretty standard assumption if you take a look around online at other builds. Keyboard/mouse/monitor usually considered separate. Prices always fluctuate too, even day by day, because of the components market. Thanks for watching.

    • Niko Castro

      May 29, 2020 at 12:30 am

It’s odd to me to have a “beginners video” and “standard assumption” in the same conversation:/ thanks for the content though. Maybe put a disclaimer , because it is a beginners video .

What’s the big deal with the thermoplastic? What’s the reason not to show it?

    • prmaster

      May 27, 2020 at 12:58 pm

Because some idiots can’t see someone do simple begginer mistakes without writing nasty comments. Some people grew up believing that a rice sized blob was the perfect application method even though it has been confirmed that any application method yields almost the same result.

The video content was nice, but…
The video quality is quite bad – too many compression artefacts. That detracts from the content since you have difficulty seeing details – for instance you could not see that they are pins on the cpu as opposed the landing grid…

    • CNET

      May 27, 2020 at 2:08 pm

This video is from our live stream from yesterday, pulling video from multiple homes. So that’s why it’s so compressed. Thank you for watching, tune into the next one!

    • Johanna Machara Österreicher

      May 28, 2020 at 1:41 pm

@CNET Yes, I understand it’s more difficult to provide good quality video because of that but I would imagine with a bit more effort it should possible, at least with a sufficient internet connection. I would be interested how you managed the that, though. Send video streams from her to him, and he handles putting them together and arranging as needed with obs or similar?

Got any tips on rewireing a PC as in side look messy

    • Tuuli

      May 27, 2020 at 3:09 pm

      1. Get a fully modular power supply.
      2. Use a case (such as the one in the video) with good routing options and enough space behind the motherboard tray to stow away excess lengths of cable.
      3. Always start from scratch.
      4. Run the main power cables for the motherboard first (24pin atx & 8/4pin eps), before installing the motherboard & other components.
      5. Avoid running cables in front of fans.
      6. Use velcro ties or zip ties to bind cables neatly onto tiedown points on the case.

Tbh anyone that have any knowledge of computers know that $600 in to possibly a gaming pc is like between low-end & medium which is equivalent to ps3 graphics not even ps4 2. If you willing make gaming pc if u not willing to put more than thousand to be up to par with ps4 or higher if u want your pc to be way ahead of next gen of console or up par to next gen you going going have to spend aless $1500 or more 2 or $3,000 & 3 it don’t take that long actually it’s very easy to build a pc you buy the the empty tower or gaming pc empty tower & buy all the parts depending on what kind of pc you trying to make or best fit you!

Which is the better option: AMD 3300x or 3600 cpu? As of this post the 3600 is a couple dollars cheaper.

  23. Niko Castro

    May 28, 2020 at 10:29 pm

Before tax and shipping all items on this last total up to 1,246 dollars.
