A Chiropractor properly diagnosed the cause of a pinched nerve in my neck when traditional medicine only offered muscle relaxants or surgery. He took x-rays (in different head positions than the MDs had x-rayed) that showed where my Atlas joint had ‘frozen’ and the area of my neck just below that had hyperextended to adapt to the issue. The Chiropractor released the pinch and taught me neck exercises that have provided relief for nearly 3 decades. Chiropractors definitely have a place in relieving at least some sources of back pain.

The “proof” bots don’t believe anything unless its peer reviewed or come from big pharma propaganda, these are the same people who are now trying to figure out how to get the S1 spike protein (from the Cov vaccine) that embedded itself into their endothelial and their Dimer test shows blood clots often causing heart damage. I have family members that learned the hard lesson. You have to stop putting full faith into the system, but not reject it either. A lot has been captured by money, so people need to keep an open mind.
And I have no proof of what I just said

Yep, most doctors are clowns. Not their fault perhaps, but they are trained to treat symptoms, not the cause. Perhaps because it makes more money in the long term? Who knows.

Here’s a question, what does someone do when these don’t help? I got a herniated disc and broken tail bone when I fell down a flight of stairs. PT and medication hasn’t helped at all. In fact there is a time limit to when physical therapy is most effective. After I did the initial injury 12 years prior I had a physical therapist tell me PT wouldn’t help as the injury has already healed. It wasn’t until later that I learned osteoarthritis had set it (probably the cause of my chronic back pain now).

There are so many things truly wrong with these statements. First is that there is no mention of fascia as being the main support system of the body and how tensegrity can affect core health.
The biggest issue I have with this video, the lack of appreciation and understanding of how touch and manual therapies function physiologically, and it’s usefulness in the allied health arena.
Please revise from an allied health, public health, and modern medical understanding of low back pain. This sort of misinformation is something I would not expect from a source like TED. Sadly disappointed

This is obviously a lot of pure misinformation in this video about chiropractic. There is a lot of studies that show evidence of positive effects on back pain, there is not a treatment or intervention that is better overall. And there is no evidence of the danger considering cardiovascular risks. come on!!! get your facts right!!

At least cite the article if you’re going to dismiss a whole branch of healthcare specialists. Anyone can find plenty of science to back Chiropractic online. I can’t believe big pharma is still at odds with chiropractors. (Look up Wilk v AMA to see the case that began the Chiropractic-Medicine animosity)

Here we go again, putting down and dismissing the Placebo Effect.. It is painfully obvious that the healing done via the Placebo Effect is OUR OWN BODIES HEALING THEMSELVES! Anytime a “Medical Professional” explains away the Placebo Effect, you should run the other way as they clearly do not understand the Human body beyond the scope of chemicals..

I think the major cause of back pain is working a 9-5. Stressing alot and overworking yourself out. An action is earning money and working less more at your convenience. Money management is a behaviour. Increasing wealth is learning. This is the principle to longlife n good health.

To quickly reiterate/summarize the key points under Item #2 about chiropractors:
1) Chiropractors don’t do anything good (other than the placebo effect).
2) Chiropractors often do harm.
They can’t heal you; they can only hurt you. They’re quacks. Plain and simple.
Margaret Pypher
November 17, 2022 at 6:18 am
Unfortunately, I found no help from the physical therapist who wouldn’t touch my back and neither the doctors nor hospitals in the area would help me while I was suffering from severe back pain. Finally, I gave in and went to a chiropractor who did proper imaging and treated me, and I am almost healed. I guess I am the exception. I understand that not all chiropractors are beneficial, but neither are physiotherapists or doctors who blame back pain on PTSD. There is just so much going on with people, mind, body and soul but I stand by the help my chiropractor did to alleviate most of the physical pain I was suffering from so I could finish dealing with the trauma. They go hand in hand, just like healing!

Shutout to my fellow Physical Therapist out there!
Joost de Goede
November 17, 2022 at 9:29 am
I think these are all valid points, however, it’s far from a complete view. As a physical therapist, over 90% of people with low back pain have non specific low back pain: no prove for tissue damage is available, yet people are in pain. When we take a closer look at the structures in our low back, these are incredibly strong. People often resort to avoiding certain movements or lifting, thinking it might ‘damage’ their back. This fear of movements (as well as other biopsychosocial factors), combined with moving in a restricted manner is a huge factor in developping chronic pain. When no red flags are present, people should be encouraged to move. Your back is OK, it’s normal to sometimes have an episode of low back pain, you will be alright. It is OK to lift, bend, twist, run, dance, whatever you want to do.

it was 40 years before when I was received injection into spine(spinal cord around behind the navel).
at that time I had a pain to drive a car, bend over, at any rate, roll over in bed. so I decided to
receive a spine injection (at that time it was called state-of-the-art treatment) I was afraid of it
if it had failed, to become lower body paralysis. but fortunately I could live peacefully up to now.

I received this injection three times, first time as might be expected I was afraid of it, but second, third time I was used to it. actually it was necessary four times for me but I’d felt no problem then I stopped it third times.

The last two years of my life from chronic back pain have been awful. I had an injury at work and was off for about 4 months. If it wasn’t for physiotherapy and daily exercise I wouldn’t be mobile. That being said everyday is still painful some days are better than others. Core strength is very important and physio that I unfortunately can’t afford to go to anymore helped so much in recovery. Moving is better than not moving when your body is able to do so. But before you do anything go to a sports medicine doctor to get assessed and find a good physiotherapist.

Apart from what she says about chiropractors being true, downplaying the work of neurosurgeons & the use diagnostic scans such as MRIs can be extremely harmful to patients like myself who aren’t aware of the extent of previous damage to their spines!
There are many specialists who are doing much needed corrective surgery, & my praise couldn’t be high enough for my neurosurgeon! After barely being able to walk for over 18 mths due to agonising sciatic pain & a 12 mth waiting-list, I was finally able to pack away the walking-stick, plus sleep without the pain continuously waking me up!
The only regret I have is not having my back looked at when I injured it lifting chairs up onto a truck after a Christmas Carols event in the mid 1980s (was too busy working at the time)!
ac12vc
November 17, 2022 at 9:41 pm
I would argue she didn’t downplay it. The current medical culture overuses surgery and imaging. Often surgery is used when it shouldn’t be (like her noting that imaging abnormalities often don’t correlate with injury symptoms). She also noted that imaging is more useful in cases of ACUTE injury, which you seem to have experienced. For chronic slow-onset injury, imaging can often be used as a crutch when pain and injury is complex issue that can include psychological stress and anxiety and fear of injury and pain. The data supports her statements.

Anyone know where I could find this?

You haven’t been to a good chiropractor if you think millions of people are all having placebo effects.
