I think it’s really cool how you are always so motivated to make a video and put so much effort into it – respect!🌹

This feature should be as easy to use without a explanation video from Cnet. MS continually making OS that is harder to use compared to Apple OS. What a shame.

Thank you so much for bringing this to our attention. I’ve been looking for something like that for a while been using third-party apps and the one that I used to use I had paid for it and all the sudden they updated their app with a new subscription model so now I can no longer use my old version, so this is great news. Thank you.

i see he’s lip syncing to that a.i. voice 😂
but seriously, it took a long time for microsoft just to move away from avi & wmv for a built-in application that saves in video by default to a more user-freindly format.

so Microsoft made a screen recording tool that doesn’t record audio, and a recording tool that includes audio but is limited in what you can record. 😅 lol this is a great lesson from Microsoft on how to miss the mark everytime. I can only imagine how a brainstorming meeting at Microsoft would go, “okay everybody how can we make something that’s almost usable but not”.

Audio recording is not as easy as Screen recording. There may be requirement of specific Permissions or privacy concerns. Its very challenging to reliability make it work with different hardware configurations and software environments.

Lol just when I thought Microsoft added $50 dollar value to their O.S…no audio capturing…ummmm think Ill just stick with a cheaper version OS and buy a $50 real screen recorder. Thanks anyways Microsoft.

@Swapnil Chopade there are privacy settings in Windows that can control which apps have access to the microphone. browsers, video conferencing software, the built-in camera, etc.. all have access to the microphone just fine. what you’re saying makes no sense.

@Swapnil Chopade screen recording seems like much more of a privacy concern and security risk 🤦. I’d rather be recorded silently sitting at my computer then potentially record me typing an unmasked password

What you should have said as soon as you mentioned “third-party apps” was something like “but don’t worry viewers, all you have to do is download “OBS” or “Streamlabs OBS” (both of which are free) to have more screen recording capabilities that you even knew existed or could ever possibly need.” and you could have saved someone years of frustration and actually empowered and informed your viewers like you are posing to do. I hope I don’t run across any of your tutorials anymore because this is actually hurting people, not helping them. You basically.just told people that their only options were to either settle for basically no functionality with a native screen recording program or go down a risky rabbit hole of fake and costly apps that may or may not work when they could just do something as simple as download and install OBS. Thank you for showing us the limitations of the windows screen recorder within the snippet tool though. No hard feelings, I’ve just been through the ringer with screen recording audio issues and it gets me all fired up lol

Lol this no audio “screen recorder” is almost as insulting as Microsoft taking away the ability to Play DVD movies without downloading Extra Software.

Snagit abd other apps similar have been the reason MS didn’t add things like this in the past.
