Jeez this guy is out of the loop…
To have proper search for winows that can search of everything. You have to enable “enhanced search” – I agree that it should properly be enabled by default instead of “basic search”.. but Windows search with this option enabled in settings can find everything on the computer from files to apps… This already exists in windows 10…
Regarding windows updates – This is yet another thing that got resolved in windows 10 where they reduced the size and also install in the background for the updates, even when there is a new H1/H2 major “servicepack” upgrade for windows 10…

Complete disaster on Microsofts part for still not fixing the Control Panel and Settings menus. However, I am not a huge fan of tech bloggers doing reviews on “preview” editions of software. I would imagine that makes most developers cringe. Its like an Alpha to the Alpha release. Microsoft would do itself some justice not worrying so much about preview release editions rather focusing more so on actual development projects.

What they should do?
Bring back the control panel, get rid of the ugly and contraintuitive settings (and get rid of all this ugly interface). There’s no more windows phone, they can focus on a OS to computers only; bring back a functional status bar on Windows Explorer. It’s annoying to have to open a properties window everytime we want to tweak some file; Allow us to completely disable the windows update, I worked more than 10 years on Win7 without updates and didn’t miss them at all. Every update aside the wast of time makes a real mess with our settings and personilizations; Stop asking for a Microsoft account and password to install this crap. It should be an option have password or not to log in to the machine. And everybody is fed up with so many accounts, logins and passwords, enough of that. Put the price down, so who doesn’t want a Jack Sparrow license and can afford a genuine one could buy it.

Almost forgot! It seems like they’ve bben doing all that’s possible to decrease produtivity. On Win7, you type something in the search and it already starts looking for – in win10 youhave to press enter! If you forget, it goes nowhere! Even to turn on the computer, almost everything needs too may clicks!

But the drag to trash doesn’t really uninstall everything on an app on mac.

Or just turn updates completely off. If they can’t fix it in two or three tries then they never will anyway. Leave win 7 control panel and scrap the win 10 version.

To uninstall an app, you can just right click that app on start menu or search, and press uninstall. It will immediately uninstall if that program was written with modern codes, and programs that uses legacy codes will be redirected to old control panel uninstallation page.

How about MS ceasing to force updates and let users install them (or refuse them entirely) on their own schedules? How about MS ceasing to force feature changes in the first place? These are core problems for business users.

I have been thru that stupid update that put me on hold at work for about 2 hours. All it takes to get stuck for hours is one stinkin restart… BAM! Windows is installing updates, please wait… for 2 hours.
Thanks to Microsoft for forcing updates down my throat at their convenience. Give us back Windows Updates control like in Win 7.

People cause their own problems with updates. If an update is available and downloaded. I uninstall when my day is done. If your PC restarts in the middle of something that’s on you for continually putting it off.

The windows update problem at this point is just simply made up tbh. It never bothers you any more, it literally does its stuff in the background and then waits for you to restart, just as you wanted to. You can even stop updated for a while so what are you rambling about?

From my experience I just find Mac OS far more reliable. I’ve been stuck with having to use windows computers for work before and it was horrible. Terrible file explorer system, screenshots (including selected a specific area) require the an app, obnoxious updating system (I’ve actually lost progress on work and missed deadlines because of this), constant crashes. I wish Windows would function more like Mac OS. I don’t care if I can’t game properly on a Mac at least I can do the productivity and editing stuff without headaches.

We always go to large icons on the old control panel. The new control panel is sorted by the “categories,” setting they are forcing you to use. I’m sure even Microsoft Devs dont even use categories. I think that they are just trying to keep you from changing settings they dont want you to in the new panel.

June 26, 2021 at 2:32 am
Well you can always drag a programs icon to the trash in windows 10… It’s kind of like the same thing… Right? Right??? You made a bunch of valid points. Apparently they need actual users working with the Devs at Microsoft.

Yes, deleting an app on a Mac is much simpler. This is because Macs and other operating systems except Windows don’t use a Registry. All the app settings on Mac are saved in separate files in the Preference folder. Thus nothing is embedded in the operating system like on Windows. Note that deleting an app doesn’t remove its settings or other associated files created by the app. You will want to manually delete those too or use a handy app like Trash3 to find all those associated files to delete them when you drop an application in your trash. Otherwise you will just end up with unused files taking up hard drive space.

I’m terrified of where they are going to move the enable disable sound device setting. in 10 they removed it from the volume icon, then they removed sounds from it so there was more clicks to get to it, then they disabled the ability to short cut it to the taskbar, and now its a hidden control panel setting.

The biggest thing they should fix is to remove the support for only 8th gen Intel CPUs like seriously? How many people are gonna switch to Windows 11 when it only has support for DX 12 and 8th Gen Intel Core CPUs? Everyone who has an older CPUs are screwed to upgrade. Way to go Microsoft, I can already see that Windows 11 is gonna be a fail. I am sure the reason why that OS requires such a high end CPU is because it needs all the CPU power to load all that bloatware garbage.

Also, add the tabs feature for the file manager.
It is an actually useful feature that one takes for granted in Linux distros already for more than a decade.

I’m not switching to Windows 11 after the issues from Windows 10,
& I am not expecting things to get better by doing the Update to Windows 11…
I am not diving into a Scam like so many other people are today…
Windows 8.1 is an Update to Winodws 8, & Windows 7 is an Update to Windows Vista?
So obviously Windows 11 must be an Update to Windows 10, right?
What if Windows 11 is worst then Windows 10, & it’s not following this pattern? o_@
Did anyone actually think that through? There are too many warnings telling me
to look away here, & possibly even telling me to go revert back to Windows 7…
