Fortunately, every single spam text shows up as green bubbles, so as an iPhone user, I assume it’s either a spammer or Android, and ignore. Thankfully spammers can’t afford iPhones!

Ok hold on! My spam calls increased 50 fold the very week I started a small business and applied for a state sales tax # I come to find out when I did my info become public knowledge and I use a cell for my business and I do not advertise at all all word of mouth from customers. So I get angry and call my state comptroller office and they said sorry but when you filed for tax number your number is pubic and too bad! So I get sometimes 15-20 a day. And certain days and time of month is worse Mondays are bad.

It’s funny, here in Australia, our cell providers automatically block spam calls… I get zero, Spam Calls and or Text at all..
My Note9 Blocks all spam, for free.. but America, wants to make money from blocker programs, sucked in…

We have that too but I think we just have more sophisticated spam callers, kind of like our crime here, just more. If I had my spam calling program from my carrier in Australia I’m sure it would work as well too.

All of the tools mentioned in this video are bandaids. None of them deal with the source. The real question we need to ask ourselves is, what factors lead to the creation of a spammer. Only then can we go down the path of making spam a thing of the past.

I’ve always been extremely careful of giving out my email or phone number but regardless of my cautionary attitude I’ve been getting so many spam calls and emails daily that it’s just become absolutely infuriating.
About a year ago I totally stopped answering calls from unknown numbers and my greating voicemail says “I don’t answer calls from unknown numbers, if your a real person say your name and the reason your calling or text me the same information and I will call you right back” doing this has helped tremendously but my phone still rings nonstop daily,,,, my phone rang yesterday about 30 times for around 2 hours from different numbers with each call, to say I was unhappy would be a great mis-understatement.
I also get about 100 spam emails a day as well which just adds to my frustration.
I’m very tech savvy and have always been very careful with my email address and phone number yet the problem persist.

just ignore and block any unknown numbers. if its important they will leave a voicemail and u can filter out the robo ones from the legit ones on ur own time. also dont call or text back any unknown number. never trust they are who they say they are. always go and do ur own research and verify. for example if its ur hospital, insurance, or bank. call ur doctor, insurance and bank on ur own. never use the number that comes in. also never click any link regardless of who it is from. it could he from ur family members but their phone was stolen. especially if ur family members ask for sensitive information. never do it over text or email. facetime them to verify its them.

Service providers write the software that controls the network. They literally invented it. They deploy it, maintain it, and perform upgrades on it. Yet mysteriously, according to this article, some 52 billion spam calls are placed and get through to subscribers every year and the service providers say they are powerless to stop it. What’s wrong with this picture.

Good video but this is very sad. There is no privacy anywhere anymore not even with your phone # and why should you have to pay to get a spam blocker on your phone let these cell companies that don’t protect your data provide it for free.

I think these spam calls are from all the data breaches we’ve had. This is just another phishing technique for social engineering…..just block the number don’t click on links being sent etc…. Good luck!

Isnt True caller popular in the US, This problem is controlled to a large extent because of true caller, the app itself will show how likely the number is spam, comments of other people who have given their feedback etc. It helps quite a lot

The majority of Spam calls are basically the modern form of the Con Artist. They want to con you out of your money. If you’ve seen the Paul Newman/Robert Redford movie “The Sting” that was set around 100 years ago now and Con Artists were in abundance then, its just the modern day ones use technology like everybody else.

I use truecaller autoblocking. Blocks all robocalls, and 99% of unwanted calls. Even if it doesn’t block a spam call it identifies it so smartly that you always know who you are going to talk to. Sadly, you need an android device for trucaller to work properly. Apple with its fascist iOS doesn’t allow third party apps to work properly.

I hope someone at CNET or in the tech world can see this…
…we have made progress with the blocking spam on new phones, but it would be great if there were a way to block them from ever leaving a message on voicemail.
I hate having to call, enter password, then wait for message to then delete this Chinese spam call. It’s all a waste of time

She says companies can’t call anyone without checking the DNC list. Yes they can and do. Period. There is absolutely nothing stopping them. Sort of like hey there’s a speed limit. It’s illegal to go over it. Most people speed at least 5mph over since they know they probably won’t get stopped for this. They can push the limits but when they are grossly over the speed limit they will get pinched. Similar in calling. When a company grossly calls a lot of people on the DNC list eventually they will get hit with legal trouble. It can happen the very first time they call someone but the chances start going up as they call more people on the DNC list. That’s it though they get hit with a ticket and keep speeding(calling).
