1-For stills they are even. *TIE*
2-For portraits, pixel can take them on objects, but iPhone has special lighting. *TIE*
3- For video, iPhone does 4k24 and 4k60, so it crushes pixel. *POINT FOR IPHONE*
4- For night photography, night sight just humiliates the iPhone as it’s part of the stock camera app (while the iPhone needs a secondary paid app) *POINT FOR PIXEL*
    Results: *TIE*
    *Other categories:*
    Battery: iPhone should be ashamed
Performance: both are smooth for normal usage, but iPhone is a powerhouse when it comes to heavy usage.
*What are your preferences? Both phones are fantastic*

The iPhone did alright considering no night mode. Sometimes the Pixel creates an oversaturated shot in night mode, other times it looks nice.
Personally I’d find a used Pixel 3 (not a) if I wanted a Pixel, same with iPhone as I already have an SE1

@Rennie Ash you’ve got a point! That oversaturation is noticeable during night shots and that kind of is annoying (that’s actually the reason why I prefer night mode on the iPhone 11). And yes, a used pixel or iPhone could be a great deal

It’s not even a fair test there not comparable. Wait for the pixel 4a

      May 10, 2020 at 5:28 pm

That’s silly, you just watched a comparison, and they are comparable. Why does it need to be “fair”? The 3a costs less now anyway, so it’s “fair”.

This guy has most of it right. The Pixel probably has more detail and better auto preservation of highlights on the day, but also has darker shadows sometimes. With any camera, I’d still tap to focus and expose anyway.
Otherwise, he’s mainly correct – Pixel is good for night and zoom, iPhone is better for people and video.
Day photo is really a toss up as sometimes the Pixel auto will work better, other times the iPhone auto will work better.
    Personally, I’d pick the iPhone.
Will be interesting when the Pixel 4a comes out to see if they’ve added some improvements.

Because it’s a good comparison that people are interested in.

Compare the iPhone SE 2020 to Google pixel 4A. This video comparison is just a joke.

    a. 0:55 The pixel takes more vibrant shots and consistently has more details than iphone se
    b. 1:08 The pixel has MUCH MUCH more dynamic range than the iphone se
    c. 1:24 The overcast day actually looks like an overcast day in the 3a
    d. 1:43 That shot of the flower the “yellows” you say the 3a didn’t handle… Actually looks better and actually yellow. The SE just looks red
    e. 3:17 the pixel one is hugely better… The eye creases are there coz they are actually there… If you don’t want creases… Do that beauty mode thing… It doesn’t smooth you out and give you the orange look like the SE without you asking it to
    f. 3:34 Yea right! “ThE pIxEL pOrTrAiT lOoKs FLaTtEr” clearly the right photo has more depth than the left one

You are doing a review then do it right… The iPhone has better DR video and ~white balance… Images on the Pixel 3a are leaps and bounds better than the iPhone SE atleast

Ugh, as someone who’s worked in professional digital imaging… this video is very frustrating.

USE the SAME lighting for each picture! You can’t compare when dynamic range is jumping all over the place. Those overcast pictures are the only good tests. -_-

    May 10, 2020 at 9:03 pm

What the dude calls vibrant is just about half a stop of over exposure on the SE. Just shoot in flat mode and add a filter of your liking later.

Seriously iPhone SE a better camera?
Just take a look at the photos, pixel wins hands down.
Stop greasing and be a fair tech reviewer!

Very interesting review not sure how you found the SE one 🤷🏻‍♂️

  20. SammyT

    May 10, 2020 at 9:47 pm

Disagree about much of the findings; the iPhone portraits are over-exposed with washed out colors, the contrastier Pixel portraits are both better and easier to edit in post, if needed. This goes for both main and selfie cameras. The video quality, on the other hand, is better on the iPhone, though not by much. In short, the Pixel has the better overall camera imo.

So the winner for photos, most of the time the winner is Google Pixel whereas for video its the Iphone

We are already in a lockdown, so why would I chose a lockdown again. I will take the 3a and use it the way I want and not the way Google or any other person want. With a better custom rom you can slap the 3a with the latest Google camera apk and it would do more.

iPhone is a new phone, pixel 3a was launched an year back. There was years time for Apple to work on their product. It’s simply a comparison between old and new, and the new one does it better like why not , that’s why one would buy a new phone. Pixel 2 has a dedicated chip to process photos and Google made the most of it‌, hope apple does something with their SE if they see it as a competition.

Do a comparison when the Pixel 4a drips in a few weeks……you’re comparing the iPhone SE to a phone that came out literally a year ago.

Was this some sort of paid product placement for Apple? Coz at every section you’ve said the pixel is better and then said that u declare the iphone SE as the winner?

Just dropped down to the comments for all the raging, butthurt fandroids, not disappointed, Lmfao. 😂👍🏻

I think that the Pixel 3a does better in some photos, but in good lighting I’d take the iPhone SE, and I’d take the iPhone SE 💯% of the time for video.

Sent from my Pixel 4 XL, so whatever.

Pixel has better rear camera images. But SE’s portraits looked more realistic to me. Also the selfie cam on the SE looked better as well. Video capture is iPhone’s forte and totally kills the pixel. But the lack of night mode on the SE is annoying as the pixel easily takes that category.

The battery life in the SE is shocking for a 2020 phone

Pixel for photos and iPhone for videos. Plain and simple. No idea what this guy is even complaining about on pixel. Yikes

  45. Abstract Gaming

You claim that the iPhone has better photos because it’s shots are more vivid, when in reality the 3a was just trying to take more realistic photos.

  46. Amoah Paul

    May 11, 2020 at 11:09 pm

When it comes to photography everyone have his own taste. So to say that one camera is better than the other because of your personal taste is totally wrong!

    What did you smoke?

    1. Zoom
    2. Dynamic range
    3. Sharpness
    4. Portrait of non human
    5. Don’t even talk about night sight
Is better on pixel still iphone is winner?
