Because US cannot compete so it resorts to all sorts of dirty tactics to trip over a competitor. Quite shameful what the US has been doing to Huawei.

Sounds like the US is making a case for the world rejecting their products and services.

USA has the same demands on data and access being provided by companies, including Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Facebook. And like China the USA also spies on their own citizens.

As many have noted, this seems more like the USA not being able to compete so it simply bans the competition.

Dumb. The US doesn’t have an ownership in American companies and the US doesn’t “require” companies to _turn over_ information without a legal warrant. Equating the CCP and the US is incredibly dumb. There are a number of companies in the US that have 5G capability. The reason why it hasn’t been implemented in all areas is because it’s expensive to replace older systems and the money has to be paid upfront and then get the investment recovered. It’s capitalism. BTW, I have 5G which I got 4 years ago in the area I live.. in the US. It may “sound[s] like” to you something..but do your homework and you will find reality does not match your imagination. Also, consider the path of technology. Tech ability is always improving… always. 5G may seem like the next step now, but 10G could be around the corner and it would pay to move slowly on these big infrastructure changes.. this is something you absolutely want to be last on. To be that company that didn’t spend a fortune on 5G conversion and now is the position to move to 8G or 10G or whatever would be the ultimate winner.

@Marc Jackson You brought up another separate point and felt it required a separate discussion. You said “Huawei gear is that far ahead of everyone else because they started by supplying the 3rd world countries that couldn’t afford existing suppliers.” Not sure about the logic, they are far ahead because they supplied to third world countries? I don’t think supplying 3rd world countries caused them to be “far ahead”. The main thought, is that China’s deals with 3rd world countries or countries with very small economies is a scheme to take ownership of whatever that country has of value, farms, natural resources, sea access, etc. The CCP doesn’t “give” them anything. China will build the infrastructure which is financed in a way that will be impossible for the country to pay, causing them to default on the loan. I’m sure you are aware of several of these deals that exposed China on this issue. Also, their superior quality is in question with infrastructure as I’m sure you have probably heard about the recent Dam that collapsed. I would consequentially questioned the motives and their ability to deliver quality infrastructure in third world or any world countries.

@zendiablo No that is what the US does, The US will only work with countries that have neo-liberal economic systems, China will literally work with any country and it doesn’t impose conditions on on them to do that, whereas the US will only cooperate with it if it allows resource exploitation that the US demands, that’s a huge difference, countries in the developing world see China as a positive force that helps build without imposing all these crazy conditions like you have to defund your entire public infrastructure and open up your whole market to US surplus goods so we can dump them in your country and destroy your economy. The US is known for just destroying and that’s a huge difference in the perception and that poses a huge threat to US hegemony around the world because the US spends so much energy and money trying to prop up this image of the US as this bright place that you want to emulate.
Corona virus has exposed how decayed and decrepit the US is from the inside out in a way like never before. China has shown it has the capacity to deal with a virus in a way the US does not. The US is freaking out right now because that image that people have is really important to the US.

@zendiablo Benchmarking the equipment it is far an ahead of both Nokia and Siemens, it is so much smaller and uses less power. We’ve inspected the source code, we build the code and flash it ourselves into the equipment before deployment.

@zendiablo You really need to have worked in hardware and software development to really understand what I was saying about building complex systems and competing with the entrenched providers.

@Marc Jackson Everything you said is completely wrong and I think I understand why. You are either part of the 50 cent army or just a loyal communist. Communism = over 100 million dead. American influence? Look at the difference between South Korea and North Korea. A fair example, basically the same people, the same culture but one socialist/communist and the other is the rule of law, democracy. South Korea is 20x better than North, life expectancy is 10 years longer in the south. Another good example of Communism vs Constitutional capitalistic democracy: West Germany verses East Germany, the same effect as with Korea. The truth is, everywhere America has a long term presence, the area is better off because of it. You can’t give one example that supports your claim that China doesn’t do shady deals or one example where America “destroyed an economy” of another country. China built a shipping port in Singapore that Singapore financed through China. China claimed they would have well over 1000 ships using it in the first year. they had around 30, causing the loan to be defaulted (by design) and China immediately took possession with a 100 year term. I think you sensed your own BS on this topic and then, again, bringing up another topic, moving the goal post fallacy.. The CCP virus. To claim China handled it correctly lacks any basis in facts. The CCP claimed no human to human transfer when they knew there was human to human infection. They blocked local travel within China but…and this is the Crime of the Century… they allowed over 5 million travelers world wide to travel to and infect over 180 countries. The jig is up, China has been outted world wide. Everyone knows the truth. They bought up all the PPE during this deceptive period as well and revealed how the WHO was in their pocket. I give China one year before their house of card economy completely fails.

But doesn’t USA tech companies has the same obligation to their government like the Chinese tech companies. America just need to admit that they cannot compete on par with these companies, so they are sabotaging the competition

That’s not the case, If US want to build a backdoor to companies such as Apple or Google in China, it’s constitutionally wrong and illegal, it’s opposite in China, the party is the law. China can do whatever they want with Huawei and no one dares to stop them.

She’s never worked in the development of networking equipment, it’s common practice for your local “spooks” to turn up to see if it “Meets their needs” this is the experience of someone who has. You explain to the spooks that it is not actually possible to meet their needs, there’s this thing called end to end encrypion you morons. The architecture of 5G makes this impossible, that’s why it was designed this way, to raise the finger to you lot.

What BS, the US cant innovate technology fast enough to prevent security threats to its own communications system, so slowing down the data communications the solution to a problem they created; robocalls & telephone scams is proof; so their own government chooses to make us a 3rd world country, while this lady with the plastic smile spouts some bull she believes without proof; & the US is a free country right? Whenever she say “uh” I just laugh.
