To understand this new force and what it’s fighting for, we spoke with AWU’s Executive Vice Chair Chewy Shaw and former Google employee and tech labor organizer Meredith Whittaker.…

Correction @ 1:15 – The Alphabet Workers Union is open to workers in the US and Canada, not the whole world.
There is an international union alliance of Alphabet workers called Alpha Global.

Google does even have a phone number to contact. So I can just imagine what they do to employees

The idea that a union can or should determine what a company should do outside of labor relations means it should face decertification. What they want is outside US laws.

Tech unionization needs to go superglobal. Once those assholes at SpaceX, Blue Origin, or Virgin Galactic colonize Mars (by partially using pentagon dark funds), you can bet that they’ll send human slaves to continue work where robots can’t operate. I’m sure some readers are laughing at this, but remember: we still have slaves all over the world in the 21st century.

Union will destroy the lives of millions of the employees they claim to be protecting. Trust the leadership or simply leave it for another company, no one is forcing them to be there. Unions creates massive uncertainty and makes an organisation confused and lost. Clients will quickly jump ship on an organisation that lacks clear direction.

@Johny Marcial I am very serious in line with @Arunava Ghatak comments. Unions only serve to empower their leaders. The rest end up as pawns of the union.

Except Google/Alphabet Company is headquartered in California, the most Union-friendly state in the country for 110 years.
And Google has no problem with California’s reputation and continues to do business despite inevitably of unionization and collective bargaining.
If Google had an issue with that, then they would have move out of California 15 years ago. But they didn’t.
You forgot to factor the geopolitical circumstances, history, and state macroeconomics.
