Enovix makes these Silicon-Anode batteries, ya?

No. The silicon carbon batteries comes from a deal signed between ATL and Group14 Technologies in 2023. Group14 makes the silicon carbon material.

The iPhone 17 Pro Max still came in first place though despite OnePlus using bigger batteries. I think we’re making progress, but this test is inconclusive due to many variables such as how people use their phones and what type and total number of apps they keep stored. Optimization of the OS also plays a role as well. Interesting information though.

This test is not inconclusive, it is completely messy. They’ve tested “some” phones with a 3h video test from 100% to ~90% and a 45min endurance test from 100% to 94% (99% in the iPhone case 😂). We all know by know that the first 20% of an Iphone last way longer than the last 20% … and the error bars in a 45min test are huge. I don’t doubt that Iphones are very efficient, but in a real test they are not even top 5 anymore …

Median would be interesting and informative. Cheap phones could be throwing the average

I want to upgrade because –
I am done with the lighting port it’s really annoying.
The phone heats up since I need hotspot and camera all the time.
Bigger battery capacity overall.
Bottomline – 14 Pro was an underwhelming device overall.

The one plus phones are awesome but they’re charger is another level I used to be able to charge my phone in like 20 mins and it would last all day

OnePlus, Oppo, Iqoo, Vivo & Realme they’re using the same battery technology and their battery outperform everybody! Glad to see somebody talked about this. Thank you sir

My OnePlus Open battery is not holding its charge well. The phone is constantly warm and sometimes pretty hot. I’m really not sure about these silicon batteries. See MKBHD’s latest video.

A 3h video test and a 45min “endurance” test starting at 100% and going down to 96% in the worst case (Motorola, Apple with 1% 😂) is completely unrepresentative for any smart phone. In every other test the One Plus 15 crushes the Iphone and the better chinese phones are not even showing up in the test. Sorry but this isn’t journalism, its a marketing video for iPhone in the US 😑.
If you’d extrapolate the Iphone result of the “endurance” test you’d get over 70h battery life 😂

Until battery chemistry changes people really won’t see a ton of battery growth.
Batter chemistry has changed about 3 times in the last 30 years. Lithium Ion has stuck around for a long time.
