I definitely think that the base model should come with more storage. Otherwise, I think it looks great!

    July 16, 2021 at 10:12 pm

Why was everybody surprised that Steam was going to release a console. I remember reading about this project like years ago. My friends and I were talking about it in articles. I’m pretty sure their surprised that they finished the project, showed the public, and have a release date.

They missed a great Oooh to have called this the steam machine portable but judging on how bad the steam machine did previously I guess they did that so people would actually take a look at this

Its a shame Nintendo didn’t come out with SOMETHING stronger than just OLED with the great games they have, especially with the bank they’ve been making off the Switch. My hope is Valve adds an OLED to the Steam Deck before it releases.

This thing is the sickest thing sind switch lite and psp 3000….the price tho, and I still want a switch lite so maybe I need to adept it but you get the point this is kind of sick…400 bucks is a lot tho…maybe not for the system but it is in price..I Mean…the switch lite is like a pumped up psp….for the same price around 180 euro same as original…so cnet you need to sponsor me…..YOU CAN DO IT
If this takes off, portable gaming is full gaming man.

  44. ar03d

    July 17, 2021 at 2:08 pm

TBH I like it but I dont think ill pay $400 when I can get portable VR for the same price. Maybe someday I will get one if it ever supports displayport function freesync and not going to bother hacking it or modifying for a secondary os option to load windows 10 or 11 when I can probably get a GPD Win 3 / 4 with the newest Intel Iris APU / CPU/GPU.

    • ar03d

      July 17, 2021 at 2:12 pm

Not to mention the GPD Win already has windows 10/11 , ssd / m.2 , 512GB – 1TB storage, i7 on mobile while having a small energy effiction power adapter and display. Might not be that hard to enable freesync on that using only display / monitor windows software.

    • ar03d

      July 17, 2021 at 2:21 pm

As there is not really a point in wasting uncertain time on a function such as enabling freesync on hardware that had displayport probably already built in if there is a optional dock it would even have the full advantage of full size display port instead of mini but really it should make no difference as long as it has a fairly newer version of displayport which by anyway should already simply be there to begin with. Why lock down all the supported hardware to using one OS, why just play only steam games, are we not worthy of chrome, edge or even firefox. So many browsers out there. I think Microsoft should just buy valve & steam and get it over with and always add steam os and android as a 2nd and 3rd bootable OS. I dont see SteamOS and Android taking up as much space as Windows 10.

    July 17, 2021 at 7:08 pm

I’m hoping for following games to run in a good way once the developers do a bit of an adjustment:
    Final Fantasy 14
    Persona 4 Golden

And I know that Nier Automata and Tekken should work, if the handheld is good enough.
With Proton at least Tekken works just as good as on windows.
And that’s a fighting game where lag would be noticable.

I think its good for someone that hates playing on my laptop. It’s just solution I been looking for on the side of my Switch life. I hate playing on a PC but with this device I can enjoy playing Star Wars without slouching on my chair and avoid having to complain about expensive hardware. It’s a simple PC portable video game system that could let me play Star Craft 2 with Windows installed. Though considering the pick one or other I rather stick with Steam OS because I been figuring how I am going to play Shinobi Striker. I want to play that but not have to pay for a mouse that expires in 10M cycles. Spending games on a PC is ludicrus. That’s why I stay on Switch because I don’t have to worry about having to upgrade my specs to play Breath of the Wild or lets see…Bayoneta…even though I don’t play that. It’d too tedious to build a PC because its too expensive. Yes your right I do have a laptop sitting on my desk and I do have a desktop but I prefer conviencey rather than raging. So there…I want one of these and will be playing on it.

    July 18, 2021 at 6:19 am

Well I reserved my Steam Deck Friday night. I should be getting the $649.00 one. You said the main reason why I choose the steam deck is to upgrade my 2017 dell laptop 🙂 Your the first person that called it more than just a gaming handheld 🙂 Which it is. I plan on installing windows and using it as my main pc with the dock or with out it. That $650 is still alot cheaper than so far any Dell that I looked at online to game and do what basically I need to do online everyday. I am excited for it and ready to own it 🙂

  66. Jaroslav Gorjatsev

    July 18, 2021 at 11:56 am

and another nice thing that it will work nicely with steam link and streaming! So can play RDR2 or Cyberpunk in some corner quietly 😀

  67. Repo Recon

So I can have mobile Eve Online… Eve Echoes may get a little dusty. And Sims 4 .
