To all those complaining about noise, it is entirely possible to noise cancel some of it, but it is likely that something like this would only be able to take off and land at an airfield and would still need to follow all the rules and regulations in controlled airspace. I think they haven’t shown takeoff and landing because it kicks up a TON of debris and makes a mess of everything around it. Also, ground effect is the most difficult force to overcome when landing, whereas with takeoff you just need to leave the ground rapidly before initiating a hover. Ground effect is when air is pushed down creating a cushion of high pressure, high turbulence air. The turbulent air can either increase thrust or cause a stall condition when air pressure is unstable. So, I imagine the takeoffs are just dusty, and the landings are dusty and harsh, as you would have to land quickly. Unless the stabilization software onboard is capable of overcoming this, it’s a point of concern.

Even the Navy are not stupid enough to be interested in this randomised suicide machine.

Is it possible?! Very much so, but instead of looking into the validity of the Volonaut Airbike you folks just posted an article as if it’s real, when it’s not. Did ANY one on your CNET team examine the videos. There are some pretty obvious ques that denote it being faked. Very consistent swirls in the jet-wash is one place you may want to look. The other would be physics. The rider is above the center of gravity of the bike with all the jet propulsion, yet we get zero view of any gimbaled jet nozzles!?! My theory is that they are probably working on it but not their and generating investor money through lies is a pretty common thing to do.

You’ll get 30 minutes tops. After that, there’s no way that that thing can provide enough energy based on its size to keep you up like that

Hey look: a randomised suicide aeroplane which is still subject to all the normal aviation laws!
Apart from a hyperloop, and an airship, this is the single dumbest transport idea of all time.
If you want to lose all your money, invest in this fatally dangerous turkey.
