Hearing the CEO’s name made me think of X-files. And that made me think of Archie’s Weird Mysteries. In the old Archie comics, Archie bought himself a car to put a cover on his old Betsy jalopy. After seeing the car’s new look, Reggie traded Archie his top-of-the-line car for old Betsy. At the end of the comic there was Reggie unable to start up old Betsy.

Cool idea , and I’m sure the one the big boys are REALLY testing is a bit better , but still – not happening – yet . We will get there one day for sure – and it is a cool idea – and people should keep getting pushed to explore and implement new ideas . One day , they’ll hit the jackpot and we will have sky lanes

They still produce as much noise as a helicopter. You would still need a pilot’s license to fly one. They wouldn’t EVER suddenly allow these to fly just anywhere. Remember the plane that struck a helicopter a few weeks ago? More stuff like that would happen. Do you know how many cars break down by the side of the road each day? That, but in the sky wouldn’t be good … ask the rich family that just died in a helicopter crash in New York.
Did you see the rear right tire in the footage where it drives away from the camera? I’m guessing that was after a landing and something broke in the suspension. Maybe a control arm. And the size of those tires shows they really don’t intend this to replace a car, even if this prototype is limited in on road speeds. How will those fans work if there is ever a crash … this car doesn’t have crumple zones that protect the fans.
This concept will NEVER replace cars as we know them now.
The whole idea that you’re driving, find traffic, and fly away is ridiculous. It’s just a fantasy. How many fender benders do people get into? Parking lots and city streets? People can’t even function in two dimensions. Now you want to add in a third dimension? And around city streets? It would be people flying through power lines.
If cars stop becoming individually owned and become communal. Like, AI driven Ubers. We would be able to entirely transform transportation. Fewer cars on the roads. Fewer lanes needed. Less traffic. Less real estate eaten for garages. Less real estate needed for temporary car parking on streets. At THAT point replacing cars with helicopters may start to make sense. Every person just wouldn’t need their own. There would still be buses and trains .. which would be faster with fewer traffic interactions. With better public transit there wouldn’t be the same demand for individual cars. And if the faster buses and trains couldn’t get you to your destination quickly enough, then the flying uber system would work. There would be air traffic … much heavier than there is now. It still wouldn’t be a free for all where one person can fly unimpeded taking any route they want. These would still be super loud … imagine a handful of helicopters flying pretty low any given moment.

It’s just drones with a shell on top of it. The shell just happens to be in the shape of a car (a bad one at that). Put a pig shaped shell and it’s a flying pig?? $300k 😂😂

The concept of the car itself is pretty amazing but they need to think of the logistics of having ppl driving a flying car. We have ppl that can barely drive on streets, even on a beautiful clear day. Imagine those ppl flying over head. I would hope there’s a mandatory training before ppl can purchase any of these in the future.
