I’ve got the 10.2″ S8. Love it, not ready for an upgrade yet. Mine has 2x front facing cams one at the top of both landscape and portrait direction.

    Do love the pen though.

If your going to buy one, I’d definitly google for the international version with 4g (new ones probably come in 5g varients). Getting the international one is best of both worlds, internet, calls and no carrier limitations like those sold by Verizon or t-mobile.

all verizon devices are unlocked by default
international versions have exynos CPU while verizon’s have qualcome snapdragon CPU

@Kayl Snow  Tmobile locks theirs which is why I always track down the international version. I have the sm-t975n says it has the snapdragon 865+.

All true, except Samsung’s OS on its tablets is clunky and confusing,. I really wanted android. I gave up my iphone & ipad for Samsung, but Samsung’s iteration of android is a mess. I’m going back to Apple.

All of these are valid points but not a game changer for me, as an iPad Pro user yes a more “pro” iPad would’ve been nicer but im fine with the performance and the quality that I get with my iPad.

  14. AME TV

    February 12, 2022 at 12:21 am

Some of these points are good but others are not picking if you ask me apple could include the pencil with the iPad and inflate the price of the iPad but that would leave users whom don’t need a stylus or pencil with no options to save if they va don’t use it it also stipends the market for third party styli * whom have been making active or connected stylus’s for the iPad since before the iPad Pro not the Microsoft Surface existed

the only apple product with a built in display that doesnt have a notch yet is the upcoming imac pro and ipad pro, they re gonna at least do these years models of those devices have notches on their screen, maybe they ll make the notches even smaller for next yrs models or the notch years was just a holdover until they get their punch hole or bean shaped holes ready so they can ditch the punch holes in a few yrs after that for the ultimate goal of any screen device, to have the sensors and cameras and finger print readers under the display so its just a phone with a camera and sensors that cant be seen but so far under display camera quality isnt good enough yet, the quality between under display and on display camera is very noticeable, until under display camera tech reaches the quality of over display , the best thing we have is just the punch holes, it beats having a notch lol , ill be surprised if the next ipad doesnt have a notch lol…which we dont like but i mean let the noitch phase die out when the under dispay camera tech gets good, i mean its funnt the notch in the samsung tablet (despite them being hypocritical towards apple when their products have notches only for samsung to do it too lol, so the notch is a popular design for now but it has to be small) samsungs notch on the tab s 8 series is small, apple could do the same and give us a smaller notch, im just holding on for the m2 based ipad pro which will prob release after all m1 series products come out so late 2022 or early 2023 the 6th gen ipad might come out, and yeah android products gives us expandable options but apple doesnt let us…tf apple? quit being greedy and give us expandable storage on your tablets and phones

  24. Pranav Mukesh

    February 12, 2022 at 1:22 am

    Nope
If people started to use ipad in landscape mode it means apple’s logo on it’s back will be viewed in a different angle by other people who see it and it means a lot to a company whose entire business model runs based on its expensive logo

The only suggestion I could actually agree with, is that Apple should include some type of pencil with the iPad Pro, but to be fair, Jobs originally intended people to use their fingers. As for OLED displays, isn’t that a Samsung owned technology. I don’t blame Apple for not wanting to make it’s competition richer. The camera placement issue is a subjective thing, and yeah, theres Apple’s Center Stage, so ‘nuff said. On the subject of storage. I don’t think I have ever needed to connect an SD card or expansion storage, especially if one is solidly immersed in Apple’s ecosystem. My cameras wirelessly sync, cloud storage is the future, and I tend to max out storage on devices anyway, so hardly ever an real issue…

  27. Wingzerodd

Hopefully Apple NEVER makes the mistake of including the Pencil with purchase.

A large percentage of the device using humans I know take great pride in what they DON’T use their tablets and phones for. The features they DON’T take advantage of. The included bits they DON’T use, but instead leave in a drawer somewhere with outdated coupons, spare change, paper clips, and other junk. An included ‘Pencil with every iPad’ would be a badge of honor for these people as they toss it aside to collect dust in the coffee cup full of dried out ink pens on their desks. “I don’t even use that thing! I don’t carry it with me; I’ll just lose it!” Meanwhile the cost of those of use who actually take advantage of the tool will have to either suffer as Apple streamlines the quality of the Pencil to take it easy on themselves financially, or keeps the quality and price high for anyone who wants multiples or has to buy replacements.

Not every iPad Pro owner is buying a graphic design studio in a box. Some are just buying a bigger screen so that they have something large to wave at during FaceTime calls with their grandkids, or show to their friends who just bought smaller tablets as a flex on the people who are growing ever weary of them. The Pencil is a premium for your personal ecosystem, and should be treated and purchased as such.

Only a small amount of customers are students, and even smaller amount are artist. It takes effort to take care and not losing the stylus, which to many is an annoyance. Apple has a good reason not to include it

I think is in the culture. Koreans love value. Korean businesses will give more for less. You can see that on automobiles, TV’s etc. to compete with Toyota and Sony. In Apple’s case. They have the capacity of doing what Samsung is doing, no doubt. But, Apple won’t give us everything at once, like Samsung. I wonder what can Samsung do to outdone itself? let’s say in the next 6 months to a year.

How is it possible for apple to learn from what samsung is doing? Good video here. I have the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ and I love it. I’ve had iPads and a few other Android tablets I’ve used through work, but this is the best tablet I’ve had. I use it to edit video, record/edit my podcast, for comic reading (perfect size really), and a lot more. The biggest issue is lack of support from app developers and Samsung has some solutions for such, but not enough. I hear LumaFusion is on the way and I’m very happy for that. We need more though. I will use whatever works best for me. I have, however, switched over to Android phones completely and I can see tablets being the same from here on out as well.

OLED comes with its own set of problems so personally I don’t mind LCD and especially when it comes to Apple’s, which are superbly implemented in terms of contrast, brightness
and color space coverage. Totally agree about the pencil, and its price, which is one of the reasons that drove me to buy a Galaxy Tab (w/ a pen). But I must say as an Android user I oftentimes envy Apple’s superior hardware…

I’d have to do the research again, but no, you can keep the OLED aside from the bluing that was an issue(not sure if that’s as bad or still exists), but color accuracy and white point and the 60hz eye strain. That said, many other things, especially the camera thing. Absolutely can we get out of the portrait iPad thing? They’ve been calling it a computer long enough

  98. Ervin Tagoe

  100. Ryan Amparo

I disagree about the OLED part. iPads are usable for a much longer time than Samsung tablets because of the iOS support. I know people who are perfectly fine with their 5-8 year old iPads just fine because they just use it to watch YouTube and so on. I don’t expect an OLED screen to be not have burn-in after 2 years, much less 5-8 years. TL;DR OLED will shorten the longevity that iPads derive so much of their value from.

They won’t include Apple Pencil with iPad because it would make no sense. It’s like you’ve wanted them to include keyboards just because they can work with it. Many iPad users don’t need Apple Pencil. Furthermore, putting an OLED display in iPad wouldn’t work in the way they want it. Many iPad users use it as a graphic tablet, thus they work with graphic programs opened for many hours where some ares of the screen are constantly lid with the same colour or picture. And that Leads to burned pixels as we’ve seen on previous oled devices. It can even happen on a phone which is mainly used for texting(keyboard is burned into the screen)

Android needs better software as well. Yes Samsung has awesome hardware but say drawing software the best android has is clip studio paint and recently krita. iPad you have more up to date versions of most like Medibang or more that are only on iOS like procreate, affinity designer, and adobe (even if it’s not that great rn).

I don’t know about this latest series, but the last series was lackluster. Even though the screen was AMOLED, I found the iPad Pro’s LCD screen to be much better. Something about the icons and wallpapers and the screen colours and temperature in general makes the iPad feel better looking side by side. Just my personal opinion from personal experience.

What can Samsung learn from apple? Audio Latency. All android tablets are horrible for audio latency; connect a DJ controller to an Andriod tablet, and you will see how slow the audio path really is. You cannot do anything on the controller in real-time with an android tablet connected to it. When you try to scratch on the controller, the scratch sound gets played after you’ve already done the scratch. It is impossible to do any type of real-time music syncing with an android tablet. The iPads are smooth as butter and have 7ms latency, while the android tablets are 40ms+. That’s the difference between starting playing the song at the right moment or missing it entirely even though you made the input on time. I have a Samsung S7+, and when I connect my pioneer Wego controller to it, it studders, pauses, delays, and simply cannot keep up with the demands of real-time DJ music processing.
iPads do not suffer from that issue. Strangely enough, the Google Nexus 5 was the first (and last) android tablet that could process music in real-time. Google decided to improve the audio path because they got tired of seeing iPads used all everywhere by deejays. But Google doesn’t make tablets anymore.

My next tablet will be an iPad. The selfie camera doesn’t mean anything to me because I never use it.

I currently have an S10+ and have preordered an S22 Ultra. I am very deep into the Samsung ecosystem for most my electronic devices, with tablets the notable exception. I’ve wanted to buy a Samsung tablet, I just hate their aspect ratio. I’ve used iPads since the 1st generation. I primarily use my iPad for reading, not watching video. I read websites, ebooks, and even comic books. Last year, I was looking to buy a tablet with a larger screen specifically to make it easier to read comics. Zooming in and out of comic panels can get annoying pretty quickly. I took serious looks at non Apple tablets. If Samsung had been offering a tablet with a 14″ screen last year I might well have bought it. I ended up buying a 12.9″ iPad Pro because it was just better than any of the other options I saw on the market. I really hated giving Apple my money because I hate their stance on right to repair. I realize that Samsung is an offender in that area as well, but I just feel Apple is worse. But they do make great tablets. The other thing is that literally every other member of my family (4 siblings, a couple of in-laws and 2 nieces) have iPhones. Well actually my nephew doesn’t have an iPhone, but he’s 4. At least having an iPad lets me use facetime even if I have to use my Samsung phone as a hotspot to do it.

but the problem with samsung tablet is that it uses android. dont get me wrong android in phones is perfect but on tablet without much support from apps developers and from google itself its basically traight down trash. ive used one and its just over sized android. like literally useless. probably 4% of my apps on phone works the rest is straight oversize garbage. dont buy it. android tablet is a dead huge android phone. these market is dead for android tho samsung is holding but can it hold on forever with no such support from developers.

This video makes no sense. I get that Samsung has some benefits but it is in NO WAY better than Apple’s benefits. First of all, you can’t call those Android tabs anything like a computer cuz they are in no way as powerful as one. Apple is literally giving you a literal computer chip in your iPad pro. Which is way faster and better than that phone chip they put inside that expensive tab s8 ultra. And plus Apple gives you more than 2 times the years of software support than android, instead of 3 and 4yrs. Even the base line iPad has more years of support. That’s a shame. And Apple never said they were trying to make the iPad a computer. Cuz the ads would have said ‘the new computer ‘. But it didn’t. It said what is a computer. Which means the iPad will be totally different. You don’t understand what you are saying and making Apple sound like they don’t know what they are doing. They already know what they want it to be. Which is as Steve jobs highlighted when he introduced the ipad. A combination of both a phone and a laptop. What you are saying is just making it a laptop and makes no sense because if they make it a laptop, or more like one, they won’t be able to sell their MacBooks or no one will buy their MacBooks. Please get your info correct and don’t criticise or judge something against something that it isn’t or something that it doesn’t have any reference to. Samsung is a worse deal in any scenario and you know it.

Why would apple want to include the pen if they are going to sell it at great margins separately. Their product sells well without the addition of the pen so there is no incentive for them to add it. They did the same with the headphones, and now the aipod sales by itself are more than what many large companies do in a year.

It’s a shame that the S8 ultra doesn’t have thunderbolt port like the iPad Pro and and the M1 is still significantly more powerful.
