Nah, folding is just a gimmick at the moment. Maybe it will turn into something more innovating in the future, but not right now.

The future of rollables and foldables: “This looks so cool but I’ll never buy it because I have no use case for it. Oh, and it’s also super overpriced.”

The Samsung Flex Hybrid tablet is going to be here before you know it. I can see it not having the rolling part though.

Practical technology peaked in 2012 with the iphone 5, galaxy notes and Windows lumia. We are using the same services, the same chat apps, the same functions from 10 years ago.
Now companies are trying to squeeze us with their subscription services, useless foldables, and pay walls. This is not innovation. It’s just a whim

With how thick these tri-fold phones are when folded up, how would anybody be able to fit these things in their pockets??? Don’t get me wrong, I think the idea of a smaller device turning into a bigger one whenever you want it to sounds cool at face value, but I think the trade-off of non-pocketability would be too much of a dealbreaker. After all, I’m not gonna want to carry my phone around in my hand all day. 😕

The laptop thing would need some serious palm rejection to even be usable, everything is cooler on paper

I had the Z Fold 2 and 3, if the new phones are any larger than those devices then they’ll be way too clunky and heavy. Honestly, if a sleeper manufacturer works on a foldable phone as slim and light as the average candybar smartphone, all of these thick foldables are basically antiques.
