Tesla Recall Not a Concern, Analyst Dan Ives Says
Wedbush Securities Senior Equity Research Analyst Dan Ives says Tesla’s recall of some 475,000 cars in the U.S. is not a cause for concern. He speaks on “Quicktake Stock.” Ives and his family do not own shares of Tesla. Wedbush makes a market in the securities of Tesla.

It certainly shouldn’t be a concern. Impact only for people that don’t understand things.
Recalls happen all the time. 2020 saw almost 800 in just that year.
Major recalls can impact things. Minor recalls shouldn’t; not for anyone who understands the industry.

GM either goes bankrupt or gets a bailout before 2027. Sorry, Dan, I disagree with your view on their future looking bright. They have already resorted to outright lying about being the “leader” while selling ZERO EVs.

GM against Tesla is like a normal person with weights around their foot against Usain Bolt. See where the Bolt is in that analogy 😂

They’ll embraces EVs from China. Tesla they hate because it’s made in America.

FUNY not a concern between these and the GM Bolt you have to be concerned about the entire Lithium ion EV industry. Their future doesn’t seem very bright unless you mean fires. 475,000 cars is roughly half the cars that Tesla ever made; even if the fix is only $500 parts time and labor your talking 275 MILLION to fix them and it probably is a higher cost. Between this and the failure to get the 4680 cell going on time – Tesla has to be feeling the heat.

More like a quarter vs half. No reason this is a “huge” problem as stated. More likely one of the many minor recalls that happen in the auto industry every year (there are multiple hundreds a year).
LiteStuff LLC
December 31, 2021 at 7:59 am
@J T They had an earlier recall in China also for 240,000 cars so the total recalled close to 715,000, They just reached a million cars about mid summer maybe they made another 400,000 max – thats 1.4 million of which about half have been recalled – That would not be a big deal if they had a huge support network like GM or Ford or Toyota; but they don’t that makes this a major problem.

@LiteStuff LLC You’re making suppositions and stating them as facts. Could it take a while to perform these changes? Sure. Will it? Not yet known. Will it be a “huge issue”? Given the nature of this recall, highly unlikely, but we’ll see (it isn’t like wheels are falling off; this is an ‘over time, w/ extended use, a camera might stop feeding info).

Only 1% of Model 3s recalled will have the defect. That’s less than 4000 cars.

This is a huge problem. Tesla has a inadequate support network already, repairs are backed up for months already. If this were a 30 minute repair maybe an hour for mobile repair – you are talking 200 million hours of tech work to fix them. If half the owners book this repair, they will be backed up for years. This will be a problem; a major problem that will at best require Tesla to hire hundreds of new employees; at worst it will impact credibility long term.

GM and Tesla are two words that should never be used in the same sentence.
It is truly mind boggling the gymnastics Bloomberg, CNBC and the whole mainstream media go through to wedge GM into any EV conversation. GM has NO EV’s available on the market today.NONE, zero, nada, zilch. They are of no relevance in the EV space. All one has to do is to take a look at their balance sheets to know that this is a failed company being kept afloat by an amazing PR job ( AKA lies and plain old bullshit, from Biden on down the line ). It is no wonder Mary Barra praised Trevor Milton back when they “partnered” with Nikola. Had Milton not been busted, he could very well be a fierce contender for the job of CEO at GM.

Of course it isn’t a concern for investors. There are hundreds and hundreds of recalls per year in the auto industry. Almost 800 in the U.S. last year. Recalls happen; clearly. Has no bearing on Tesla’s fundamental areas. Not a concern.

JT Yes it will take a “while” I estimated the hours required on very minimum estimate of time; it will certainly actually take more time; not counting the waste of he customers time. Once you have a low estimate of the hours you can multiply that by with a low cost of workers and that doesn’t even include the cost of the parts required for the repair. It doesn’t matter at all if the repair is critical; the fact they have to do it when they have inadequate support to start is the major problem; this will back up collision repairs and more important warranty repairs and so on which are already months behind. Insurance companies are already being forced to junk perfectly repairable Tesla’s because of the long delays involved and the cost of providing a rental now is very high – this will mean increased Tesla insurance rates which are already very high.
