One side of this is that the VCs aren’t getting their high IRR either. Much better to shut a business down and return cash to investors rather than keep a business running profitably and sustainably. So this is also another factor of layoffs and companies shutting down. More founders recently are now choosing to bootstrap and avoid VC money which could see a resurgence with some companies becoming more sustainable in the near future.
